Jesus Preaches the Good News

The preaching of God's love and salvation is the beginning of the creation of the Church. He not only preached through his words, but through his actions too. These actions included teaching his followers how to live in harmony with those around them by appreciating their enemies, forgiveness, and serving those struggling. He preached verbally through parables. By listening to these parables and to his words, his followers were welcomed into his journey of transforming God's Reign into reality. Through the preaching of the Good News Jesus teaches his followers to forgive and love as he did. We, as followers, continue his legacy and mission as the Church, united as one.

The Fall occurred during the Adamic covenant when God placed Adam and Eve in the garden to take care of it, as well as the animals. They were forbidden from eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, which they soon disobeyed because of the devil disguised as a serpent. This is the origin of original sin that we are all born with. This prefigures the Church because it demonstrates that the devil tempts us in many ways and it is difficult to not give in, but sometimes we do and in doing so we must face the consequences.

The events that include Abraham take place after the Flood. God reaches out to Abraham to search for new land, and in exchange God promises him a great nation, a great name, and great blessings. Abraham takes on this journey with his family and does so without hesitation. He eventually questions his ability to fulfill the prophecy of creating a great nation because he is childless and his old age. God reassures him, and as a result Abraham trusts him and develops a renewed faith in God. Like Abraham's story, the Church spreads rapidly all around the world. In addition, it foreshadows God's decision to save us in order to carry out his teachings, like he chose Abraham and the Chosen People.

The Ten Commandments were created when Moses freed and led the Israelites through the Red Sea and eventually to Mount Sinai. Here God revealed the Ten Commandments to Moses and inscribed them on a slab of stone. Basically these Ten Commandments set the rules of the faith and what is forbidden, as well as the morals the followers of Christ must follow. They guide us to serve God and help us live a more faithful life. It reminds us to remember the Church and the importance of it because without it we would not be united as one(the opposite of what God encourages). The Ten Commandments are essential parts of our life.

The Council of Jerusalem formed when popular questions regarding the conversion of Gentiles arose. The Apostle Paul and St. Barnabas traveled to Jerusalem to seek advice from Apostles to decide whether converting Gentiles must follow the Jewish dietary laws, and be circumcised. Through much leadership it was ruled that they did not have to follow or go through these requirements, but they did have to avoid idolatry and unlawful marriage. The Apostles' contribution to the early Church and decisions made within it, specifically in the Council of Jerusalem, have allowed it to grow and prosper.

Saint Paul's transformation was a great event that aided the growth and expansion of the Early Church. Before Paul's conversion, he enjoyed the persecution of Christians. Until one day, on his journey to Damascus from Jerusalem he came into contact with the Lord Jesus Christ. Because of this simple encounter Paul was baptized and he transformed into one of the early Church's Apostles. He continued to spread the Gospel, and assisted the conversion of several Gentiles in the Mediterranean, just as Jesus had done to him. This conversion was the beginning of many, and opened the door of the Church even further to non-believers.

Pentecost occurred 50 days after the first Easter Sunday. On this day Jesus had sent the Holy Spirit amongst the disciples. The Holy Spirit being the tongues of fire placed on them allowing them to speak all sorts of different languages. Furthermore, those who once did not understand the Gospel being preached could now listen to someone speaking their language and grasp what was being said. Because of this the Gospel and the Church could be spread all over, far and wide without the obstacle of a language barrier to stop it.

Saint Teresa of Calcutta

Saint Teresa was born as Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, later known as Mother Teresa, and eventually was named a Saint. She was very involved in the church as a youth, and as she grew older she made her way to continue in missionary work. She worked in Ireland and India to continue God's teachings and spread His word. During her time in Calcutta, India she taught geography and history to girls who were on the wealthier side. This was until she was called upon God to help and serve those who were struggling, the poorer people who really needed assistance. So she did so, continuing to follow God, be the courageous and unselfish person she was, and eventually create a charity.
https://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=5611

The Eucharistic Sacrament is completed through communion during mass. It is the consumption of the bread and wine, which is considered the Body and Blood of Christ. The creation of this sacrament began on the night before the crucifixion of Jesus. Jesus shared one last meal with his disciples, which is known as the Last Supper. Jesus sacrifices himself in order to preserve the Church. The Church reminds us of what he did for us, and that we are united as one Church.
https://ebook.smp.org/ebookreader/launchbook.htm?id=38882&userType=RUNPTV9VU0VS&_=1665358593835 https://www.usccb.org/eucharist

In order for the Church to last, Jesus was aware that it needed leadership, so he chose the 12 Apostles. He allowed them the power to spread the word by preaching, teaching, and healing in his name. He chose ordinary people because they were relatable and trustworthy, yet could also make mistakes. By entrusting these specific 12 Apostles, it is revealed that the Church does not discriminate. It accepts all that we have to share, and despite our differences God appreciates all that there is to offer. This further displays that the apostles are in fact relatable and encourage more people to join the Church.

Jesus Walks on Water

The event of Jesus walking on water is considered a miracle. This begins when Jesus sends the 12 Apostles across the Sea of Galilee. They would soon encounter a frightening storm, and suddenly witnessed Jesus Christ's presence. He was walking on water towards them, and they became even more scared. Eventually, he proved to them that he was real, and finally they were convinced that He was the Son of God. Without a miracle like this to be shared, the origin of the trusting relationship between the disciples and Jesus would be unknown. It teaches us that we must not be afraid of what the Church has to offer, and that when in fear we must call out to the Lord.
