Check Compatibility: Ensure your iPad model supports the Apple Pencil. Not all iPads are compatible.

Charge Your Pencil: If it's a new Pencil or hasn't been used for a while, charge it. For the 2nd generation, attach it to the iPad's magnetic connector or use a lightning cable for the 1st generation.

Remove Cap (1st Gen): For the 1st generation Apple Pencil, remove the cap from the end to reveal the Lightning connector.

Plug In or Pair: Connect the Apple Pencil to your iPad's charging port (1st gen) or bring it close to your iPad's side (2nd gen). You might see an on-screen prompt to pair. Follow the instructions.

Bluetooth Connection: The Pencil uses Bluetooth to communicate with your iPad. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPad.

Settings Verification: Once paired, go to "Settings" > "Bluetooth" on your iPad to confirm the connection.
