My artefact is a video of Finns Reserve that I, myself walked through. The water that is seen is the Yarra River. You can hear the waves of the Yarra River crashing together, the sounds of the birds chirping, my footsteps against the rocks, the cloudy grey skies, the green grass, the greenery on the trees. As I am walking I can feel the unsteadiness of the rocks that I'm stepping on, the hard concrete and can see the smiles of the numerous individuals that I walked past before reaching this spot.

I picked this particular place because it is a popular gathering place for many families, big and small. There is also a playground nearby which gives the children the freedom that they need being in an enclosed playground space where they can mingle and create fond relationships. There's also a cycle and walking path for both pedestrians and cyclists. There are also numerous off path walking paths that people can use to explore the surrounding nature - they eventually lead you to the main walking pathways. Since I was younger I have been coming to this park as it brings me feelings of joy, peace and happiness.

ENGAGEMENT WITH PLACE & PAST - PRESENT

The outdoor environment to me is where affordances, variables and things just come together as a collective to bring something to life. Listening and becoming of my surroundings respectfully as per Hamm (2015) suggest provides the opportunity to reimagine this place and to thank our previous elders for what they have done for us. Tree's in this environment are very important not only to the Wurundjeri people but also to the surrounding nature. Without the surrounding tree's the water would have no movement. The Yarra River is important historical landmark, instead of seeing it as a river to look and think deeper and instead see them as "living entities" and we can work with the river to "make a better future" (Pelizzon, 2021). Weather, colours and nature all give children a greater understanding as to how the world works. Being in an environment like this brings a sense of freedom, space and autonomy, allowing individuals to connect with place in the most intimate way.
