I think that our film could convey a meaningful message to audiences but would not make it into cinemas due to it being a low budget first time production. Our film I think would be suitable to be distributed on Film4. Film4 broadcasts many mainstream Hollywood movies to over 18 million households but has a focus on independent, British films. By having a largely popular film company distribute films, our product would therefore be potentially aired to millions and millions of people apart from the fact that it wouldn’t really be relevant for families as we didn’t intentionally set out for our media product to be a family orientated film; from this gaining interest and consequently gaining profit. However, our film was a group effort, therefore YouTube may be the better option. YouTube is a great way of advertising our media product as well as presenting it as it is a creative media platform and our film's target audience would fit perfectly as many young people watch/go on YouTube nowadays. This distributor, YouTube, could be used if our film product doesn’t reach a TV channel distributor like Film4 as it is free and videos are circulated quite quickly as YouTube doesn’t have any specific target audience, therefore applies to everyone. Thus meaning our media product may be liked by people older than 15 years of age. Our media product could get shown on the homepage of YouTube with recent uploads from actual YouTubers or alongside other short films. Tags and keywords can be added which would make our media product easier when searching for it. YouTube is linked with many other social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter, and often gets shared on either platform; audience members may write a status or tweet about our media product which again is another way of advertising and expanding our audience. However, this does not mean everyone else does, but because there are so many YouTubers out there that do talk about what they are enjoying at the minute such as films etc, it would mean our media product would possibly get advertised as well as distributed on this platform. Also YouTube is free, there is no major cost behind uploading on it, therefore because our film is short we can only provide a small expense for the distribution of it but as YouTube comes with zero expense we could concentrate on possibly making it bigger, and in the near future focus on distribution with bigger production companies, such as conglomerates of the Big Six. I feel YouTube is the most desirable way of media distribution because there is much available content like video clips, music videos and more, which are all ways of media distribution and ideas for moving forward are right in front of you.
