GOLD- Alexander the great went on many voyages throughout his life. He was very curious about the Indian Ocean. He didn’t know if it was an inlet or if it was an Ocean that covered most of the world like the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

COMPARE/CONTRAST- You can contrast this event to the Lewis and Clark expedition. Lewis and Clark explored over land unlike Alexander the great who explored over the ocean in search of the Indian Ocean to find if it was an inlet or huge Ocean.

GLORY- Alexander the great conquered many things in his life. In fact he was 4-0 in all of the battles he fought in. He was also the king in Persia at the time. He founded the city Alexandria in Egypt and it is still a city there today.

COMPARE/CONTRAST- You can compare this event to Donald Trump’s presidency. Donald Trump wants to be a global leader and makes outrageous statements to draw attention to himself. He appears to want to a “King” of America and be in control of everything.

Alexander the great founded the city of Alexandria in Egypt. Alexandria is considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, for the Temple of Serapis. You can compare this to Lewis and Clark expedition because they went in search for the U.S. just like Alexander the great searched for city he could start up, “found”.

Alexander the great conquered many places in his life. The Positives of him conquering places helped his people very much. They have a larger live different landscape, and get experience to live in a new place. You can contrast to Daniel Boone he found a path through the Cumberland gap he didn't conquer places like alexander the great did.

Alexander the great conquered many places but instead of talking about his people I will talk about the people who got there land taken away. The people who got there land taking away were used as servants or if they were lucky they just might be able to escape. You can contrast this to Vasco da Gama because he didn’t conquer places. But he did howere create a trade route to india and portugal.

Primary Source 1- Explorer “There is nothing impossible to him who will try” This quote is from alexander the great. This quote means that if you try you can do almost anything. This quote relates to exploration because when you are in a battle trying to take over land you might just have to try a new tactic if the one you normal use isn't working.

Primary Source 3- and explain “I would be willing, yes glad, to see a battle every day during my life”. This quote is somewhat similar to the other quote. They both loved battle and wanted to be in them.

BROUGHT WITH HIM: Alexander the great was a great army leader during his time he was 4-0 in all of his battles and they follow him regardless of the cost whether it be a stunning victory or hopeless defeat. Most of his people carried a thrusting spear of five to eight feet in length.

In my opinion this was not the best fighting tactic but it seemed to work for his army since they were so successful. All of his people were on the ground carried a thrusting spear and a shield.

Today not many armies use swords anymore, they all use guns, helicopters, and many other things.

TOOK BACK: Alexander the great conquered many places in his 3 years as a king. All of the area in a faded green is what land he acquired.

All of this land he won in his battles added to his empire. His empire was huge and unstoppable, until when he died. After he died the empire began to fall.

In today's world people don’t go around having battles all the time to conquer land like they did back then.

My explorer Alexander the Great helped claim land for his kingdom making it much larger. He established one city named Alexandria in Egypt. The reason people colonized is because of power. Back then they thought of that to be god-like. This is similar to how Middle Eastern countries are at war. They are trying to claim more land and spread their empire and religion.

Colonization led to the spread of different religions within Christianity like, Protestants, Catholics, and Lutherans. When rulers took over land, they forced their religion upon the people living there. This is different than present day because a large variety of religions exist within a small area. We still have religious differences, but one religion isn’t dominant or forced upon people.

Colonization forced the natives off of their lands, because new colonists want the land for crops and homesteads. They were made to leave or follow the rules of the new ruler. This is similar when the Pilgrims arrived to establish the 13 colonies in America. They forced the Indians to leave their land and move west.
