A resource could be a text, a person (as in a personality on which the lesson / activity is based upon, their life story, something special they achieved, not just as a person speaking, and the 'resource' would be their story/stories, NOT the person simply speaking), an outdoor space, the Yarning Circle, an artefact – it really just means something you might use when teaching – of course websites and articles fit that bill too!! 

Do NOT submit whole lesson plans: only the resource and the activity and don’t forget to answer the other questions:

– How you will engage families in the classroom?

– Evaluation criteria for which resources to use in your classroom.

– Best practice - how do I make that happen in my classroom?

For example, I have just googled the term and a website that came up is https://www.understood.org/en/school-learning/for-educators/universal-design-for-learning/what-is-culturally-responsive-teaching - if you use this in your essay then you would critically analyse the content.  It is not specifically focussed on Indigenous Australia but does make reference to African Americans and there may be some transferability -which is what you would comment on.   In terms of the writer’s approach/conclusions – I would be looking into whether for example, the author is a person of colour or what experience has the author had - has it been varied or limited to one context?  Are the conclusions practical for the classroom, the school, or the family system?

Another wide example - If presenting about the Emerging Minds (NSW) initiative, https://emergingminds.com.au/news/, evaluate what they do in their own words, in regard to Indigenous Education, what projects are they working on and did they work on, who the contributors are, are these contributors knowledgeable about Indigenous Australia? How does this organisation allow for CRA teaching in schools? What may barriers be (think about budgets or experts in communities). 

A critical evaluation can be informed by the questions provided in the guidelines, but this does not mean you have to answer all those questions!! They are just a guide as to what you could discuss to evaluate the approach and author, for example:
