As i wondered through the woods and enjoying the sunshine, i stumbled upon this incredible echidna. its quills were like a crazy cool mosaic of brown and black and its eyes seemed to hold ancient secrets. It was like looking into the soul of the forest.

for a second time stood still and i was totally entranced. The echidna started moving and its little paws barely touching the ground like it was performing some sort of slow motion dance. I was captivated and i felt like i was i stumbled into a hidden world where the wild things reign.

Then suddenly, it vanished into the woods leaving me with this haunting memory of our encounter.

On my country visit, i felt like i was stepping into a real life episode of the Mutton Bird video. The sights, sounds and smell all blended together. The sent of damp, the warm sun on my skin and the gentle rustle of leaves on the ground and on the trees made me feel alive and so relaxing.

As i walked along the river and passing the tall trees, i spotted ducks gliding effortlessly across the river, the birds flitting about and an echidna making its way very slowly through the underbrush. It reminded of the DADIRRI method. the importance of deep listening and noticing.

This experience reminded me of the article "Let's Play Outside" which highlights the importance of nature based play. As i walked i could not help but think about how i can incorporate more outdoor learning experiences into my future practice. This experience also helps me realises that it's not just about taking children outside, it's bout creating opportunities for them to develop a deep connection with nature and encouraging them to use their senses to notice things in the world around them.
