The economy of the Native Americans relied on the men and women performing their everyday jobs. The men would hunt, fish and make tools. These tools were helpful for clearing the land so they could make gardens. Then the women would farm, collect the firewood, prepare and serve meals, and make clothing for everyone. Another main role was the role that the children played in helping their parents and elders. The boys would learn from their fathers about hunting and fishing. Then the young girls would weed and take care of the garden.

Once the Europeans colonized North America the population of the Americas went down by 80% (estimated). This was because the Europeans brought diseases that the Native Americans had never been exposed to before. It also changed the way that people lived.
