Countryballs canonically exists in Äriala.
In 1489A the book "My First History Book: A Guide For Kids™" was published in Daiquen, featuring the drawings of balls with a flag and 4 eyes that represented countries; the illustrations were made by Yochenn U'Plorotiu. The book was a complete success due to the atractive drawings, and soon the same editor released "My First Geopolitics Book: A Guide For Kids™" with the same drawings of Yochenn.
The drawings ended being part of the Daiquenian popular culture and also known outside of the nation. Yochenn accepted a job at the newspaper "Your Knowledge™" in 1494A to do satirical drawings with the same characters to complete the news, and keeps doing the job at today.
Yochenn refers to their characters as "monemberitornae", that can be translated as "cute things representing nations".
