         <description><![CDATA[<p>The <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://ance-hellas.org/"><strong>Athens Network of Collaborating Experts (ANCE)</strong></a> is a non-profit organisation founded in Athens, Greece, in 1996. Its multidisciplinary team works to promote inclusion, empowerment and sustainability by expanding access to education, employment and information.</p><p><br/></p><p>For nearly three decades, ANCE has designed and implemented more than 140 projects in over 80 countries, contributing to social inclusion, youth empowerment, active citizenship, gender equality, environmental awareness and sustainable development.</p><p><br/></p><p>Through non-formal education, training programmes, cultural initiatives and community-based actions, ANCE supports individuals and communities in actively shaping a fairer, more inclusive and sustainable society.</p><p><br/></p><p>Within <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://ance-hellas.org/projects/ger-gre-vision/"><strong>GER-GRE VISION</strong></a>, Laial contributes its expertise in community-based youth work, inclusion, participation and innovative approaches that empower young people and strengthen social cohesion.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The first <strong>study visit</strong> of the GER-GRE VISION project took place in Berlin, <strong>Germany</strong>, in <strong>June 2025</strong>.</p><p><br></p><p>During the visit, representatives of ANCE had the opportunity to explore innovative approaches to inclusive youth work implemented by Laial e.V. and other local organisations. </p><p><br></p><p>Through site visits, workshops, discussions and exchange activities, participants examined methods that support the inclusion, empowerment and active participation of young people, particularly refugees and migrants.</p><p><br></p><p>The visit focused on creative, participatory and community based approaches that strengthen self-determination, social cohesion and equal opportunities. </p>]]></description>

         <title>Martial Arts as a Means of Inclusion and Empowerment - Sochin Karate School</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Τhe partners explored the work of <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.sochinkarate.com/"><strong>Sochin Karate School</strong></a>, which uses martial arts as a tool for inclusion, personal development and community engagement.</p><p><br></p><p>The programme brings together children, young people and adults from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, including migrants and refugees, creating an environment based on respect, discipline, cooperation and mutual support. Activities are delivered both in the karate school and through collaborations with schools and community centres.</p><p><br></p><p>Beyond physical training, participants develop self-confidence, resilience, responsibility and social skills. The mixed-group approach encourages interaction between people of different ages and backgrounds, helping to break down barriers and strengthen social cohesion.</p><p><br></p><p>This method demonstrates how sports and non-formal education can support inclusion, empowerment and active participation while creating a strong sense of belonging within the community.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Inclusion through Filmmaking  - PowerPeng! Project</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p><br></p><p><strong>PowerPeng!</strong> is an empowerment project that provides Roma youth in Berlin with a safe and creative space to share their stories and express themselves through filmmaking and digital storytelling.</p><p><br></p><p>Participants take part in regular workshops where they develop skills in photography, videography, interviewing, storytelling and media production. Working collaboratively, they create their own content, from the initial idea and script to filming, editing and final presentation.</p><p><br></p><p>The method promotes inclusion by giving young people the opportunity to become creators rather than passive recipients of information. It strengthens self-expression, teamwork, communication skills and self-confidence, while enabling participants to share their experiences with wider audiences through digital media.</p><p><br></p><p>The project demonstrates how creative media can be used as an effective tool for participation, empowerment and community building among young people from marginalized backgrounds.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <title>Intergenerational Social Work: Gena Group</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The partners met a collective of educated migrant women from the Middle East in Treptower Park and learned about their experiences, community initiatives and approaches to social inclusion.</p><p><br></p><p>This method focuses on supporting migrant and refugee communities by creating safe spaces for exchange and dialogue between different generations. Through regular activities, community engagement and mutual support, participants share experiences, build trust and strengthen social connections.</p><p><br></p><p>The approach encourages active participation and empowers community members to contribute their knowledge, skills and experiences. By promoting intergenerational dialogue and solidarity, it helps create a stronger sense of belonging and promotes social inclusion within diverse communities.</p><p><br></p><p>This example demonstrates how community-based initiatives can strengthen empowerment, resilience and mutual support among migrants and refugees while building bridges between generations.</p>]]></description>

         <title>From Social Work to Self-Employment: Sumsum Canteen</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Participants explored the <strong>Sumsum Canteen</strong> initiative, an inspiring example of how social work can support entrepreneurship and self-employment among young refugees and migrants.</p><p><br></p><p>Sumsum was established in 2021 as the outcome of a crafts project and youth training programme. Working together with architects, craftspeople and social workers, young refugees and migrants designed and built a food truck from scratch, gaining practical skills, experience and confidence throughout the process.</p><p><br></p><p>Today, Sumsum operates as a catering business, providing food services at music festivals and community events. The initiative enables participants to earn their own income while developing entrepreneurial, organisational and professional skills.</p><p><br></p><p>The project demonstrates how hands-on learning, social support and entrepreneurship can be combined to create sustainable pathways towards economic participation and self-employment. As a successful model company, Sumsum also serves as an inspiration for other young people seeking to develop their own professional opportunities.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Empowering Migrants through Legal Counselling</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Participants explored the work of the <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.migrant.gr/cgi-bin/pages/index.pl?arlang=English&amp;type=index"><strong>Greek Forum of Migrants</strong></a> and its approach to supporting migrant communities through legal counselling and community-based empowerment.</p><p><br/></p><p>The method focuses on enhancing social inclusion by helping migrants and refugees better understand their rights, opportunities and available support services. Legal counselling is provided by experts in migration and local law, supported by trained volunteers who offer guidance on legal, employment and integration-related issues.</p><p><br/></p><p>Support is delivered through regular in-person and online sessions, as well as direct communication channels such as WhatsApp, ensuring that information and assistance remain easily accessible to community members.</p><p><br/></p><p>A distinctive feature of this approach is that it is self-organised and community-led. Migrants actively participate in supporting one another, sharing knowledge and creating positive role models within their communities. The initiative also promotes intercultural dialogue, raises awareness about gender-based violence and contributes to improved access to housing, education, employment and social participation.</p><p><br/></p><p>This method demonstrates how community led legal support can strengthen empowerment, trust, inclusion and long-term integration</p>]]></description>

         <title>Videography as a Means of Social Integration</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Participants explored the work of <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cinergies.coop/"><strong>Cinergies</strong></a>, a Greek social cooperative founded in 2016 that uses transmedia documentary production to promote social change, sustainability and community engagement.</p><p><br/></p><p>Cinergies combines video, photography and audio storytelling to highlight underrepresented voices and bring attention to important social issues. Through participatory media production, individuals and communities are encouraged not only to share their experiences but also to actively contribute to shaping social change.</p><p><br/></p><p>The cooperative supports participants in developing creative, digital and communication skills while increasing the visibility of social initiatives and community-driven actions. By providing opportunities for expression and storytelling, the method strengthens participation, empowerment and social inclusion.</p><p><br/></p><p>The video presented at the end of this study visit was produced in collaboration with Cinergies and demonstrates the use of participatory media as a tool for inclusion and social integration.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <title>Skateboarding as an Empowering Tool for Young Migrants</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Participants explored a community-based <strong>skateboarding </strong>initiative that has been running in Kato Patisia since 2020.</p><p><br/></p><p>The programme uses skateboarding as a tool for empowerment, inclusion and personal development for young migrants and local children. Weekly sessions are held at Fitefti Square and are facilitated by trainers and youth workers, providing a safe, supportive and engaging environment for participants.</p><p><br/></p><p>Through regular participation, children and young people develop self-confidence, social skills and a stronger sense of belonging. The activities encourage interaction between participants from different cultural backgrounds, helping to build friendships and strengthen community ties.</p><p><br/></p><p>The initiative demonstrates how sport and informal learning can create accessible opportunities for participation, empowerment and social integration while supporting the wellbeing of young people.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Cooking Healthy and Vegan Food for Young Migrants and Underprivileged Groups</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Participants explored the initiatives <strong>Food for Life and Food Yoga</strong>, two community-based projects founded by a migrant Ukrainian woman with the aim of providing healthy vegan food while promoting wellbeing, inclusion and solidarity.</p><p><br/></p><p>The projects bring together migrant women, volunteers, social workers and members of the local community to prepare and share nutritious meals in a welcoming and informal environment. Activities take place every other week outside formal educational settings, creating opportunities for participation, interaction and mutual support.</p><p><br/></p><p>Beyond food preparation, the initiative encourages cultural exchange, community building and the development of practical life skills. Through shared cooking and meals, participants strengthen social connections, exchange experiences and contribute to a culture of kindness, respect and inclusion.</p><p><br/></p><p>This method demonstrates how food-related activities can be used as a powerful tool for empowerment, social participation and community engagement.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The <strong>GER-GRE VISION </strong>project officially started with an online <strong>Kick-Off Meeting</strong> held on <strong>18 March 2025</strong>, bringing together representatives of Laial e.V. (Germany) and ANCE (Greece).</p><p><br></p><p>During the meeting, the partners reviewed the project objectives, timeline and expected outcomes, and established a common framework for cooperation throughout the 18-month project period.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key topics</strong> discussed included:</p><p>• Project goals, SMART objectives and indicators.</p><p>• Planning of the study visits in Berlin and Athens.</p><p>• Identification of experts, activities and youth work methods to be explored.</p><p>• Documentation and dissemination strategies, including photography, video production and success stories.</p><p>• Digital project management tools and communication procedures.</p><p>• Financial planning, task allocation and project responsibilities.</p><p>• Opportunities for future cooperation and the development of new joint initiatives.</p><p><br></p><p>The Kick-Off Meeting laid the foundation for a collaborative partnership focused on inclusive, sustainable and innovative youth work practices in Germany and Greece.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In <strong>May 2025</strong>, the project partners <strong>met online</strong> to prepare the upcoming study visit in Berlin and coordinate the next implementation phase of GER-GRE VISION.</p><p><br/></p><p>The meeting focused on planning activities, reviewing logistical arrangements and discussing the learning objectives of the study visit. Particular attention was given to the methods, organisations and community initiatives that would be explored during the visit, as well as the documentation and dissemination of project results.</p><p><br/></p><p>The partners also coordinated activities aimed at supporting young people with fewer opportunities through non-formal learning approaches, ensuring that the study visit would provide meaningful learning experiences and opportunities for professional exchange.</p><p><br/></p><p>This meeting contributed to the smooth implementation of the project and strengthened cooperation between the partner organisations.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In <strong>April 2026</strong>, ANCE organised an <strong>online local dissemination workshop</strong> to present the main results and learning outcomes of the GER-GRE VISION project.</p><p><br></p><p>The workshop introduced participants to the innovative youth work methods explored during the study visits in Germany and Greece, including approaches related to inclusion, empowerment, community engagement and support for young people with fewer opportunities, particularly migrants and refugees.</p><p><br></p><p>Through this dissemination activity, ANCE contributed to increasing the visibility of the project and ensuring that its results reached a wider audience beyond the project partnership.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>As part of the GER-GRE VISION project, ANCE delivered a <strong>workshop on European funding opportunities and project development</strong> for the project partners.</p><p><br></p><p>The workshop introduced participants to key European funding programmes, application procedures and partnership-building strategies. Topics included EuropeAid, Horizon Europe, Capacity Building in the Field of Youth, AMIF and CERV, as well as practical guidance on project design, consortium building, budgeting and proposal preparation.</p><p><br></p><p>The activity strengthened participants' understanding of European funding mechanisms and supported the development of skills related to international cooperation, project management and strategic planning.</p><p><br></p><p>The workshop directly contributed to one of the project's objectives: enhancing the capacity of partner organisations to participate in and coordinate future European projects and transnational initiatives.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>
