         <description><![CDATA[<p>Boils</p><p><strong>Description</strong>: A boil is a painful, pus-filled bump that forms under your skin when bacteria infect and inflame one or more hair follicles. A carbuncle is a cluster of boils forming a connected infection area under the skin. Boils (furuncles) usually start as reddish or purplish, tender bumps.</p><p><strong>Symptoms</strong>: A painful, red bump that starts small and can enlarge to over 2 inches (5 centimeters).</p><p><strong>Treatments</strong>: Apply a hot compress for 10 minutes or so, three times daily, to encourage the boil to come to a head.</p>]]></description>
