However, not everyone shares that view. A local woman pointed out several issues: “There’s no local public transport. The train is often late. For younger or middle-aged people, there’s not much to do. And if you’re highly educated, it’s hard to find work.” She also noted that salaries are significantly lower compared to bigger cities like Zagreb or Rijeka.

She mentioned that some immigrants have moved to Ogulin. Although they haven’t caused any problems, she expressed discomfort, saying, “It’s just a matter of time.” On a more positive note, she hopes for more development in the town—“We need something fun, like an amusement park.”

Walking through Ogulin during the workday, we noticed many people sitting in cafés, sipping coffee. It suggests a slower pace of life, but also raises questions about employment opportunities and how people spend their time.

Ogulin remains a town of contrasts—peaceful and safe, yet facing economic and social challenges, especially for the younger generation.
