A reason why students shouldn’t wear them is because they don’t behave any better. Teachers believe that students tend to behave better when they wear uniforms. In the article Issue Overview: Should Students Have To Wear Uniforms, the author stated, “Students who wear uniforms don’t behave better or do better in school.” This is relevant because students do not behave any better because based off of what they wear has nothing to do with the way they behave. Also based on a student who was interviewed and his experience, he said that he doesn’t see a difference in their behavior. 

Another reason students shouldn’t have to is because it can cause students to become insecure. Students now care more about their appearance and how other people look. In the article Should Students Have To Wear Uniforms, the author stated, “Today that students, especially girls, tend to compare how each other looks in their uniforms.” This is really relevant because when students wear uniforms some can not like the way their appearance looks. Some can become really insecure when they wear the uniforms because of the way they look at the students. Then they start to compare them self to other people they think look good in the uniforms. To avoid this problem the students shouldn’t wear uniforms. If they are insecure it can also mess with their mental health. 

The last reason to support that students should not have to wear uniforms is that in society girls wear skirts and boys wear pants for uniforms. It isn’t fair for the school to decide that. It is already bad enough they have to wear uniforms. In the article School Uniform Shift U.K. Allows Students To Express Own Identity, the author stated, “Girls in skirts and boys in pants. This has been the story of school uniforms for centuries in the United Kingdom.” This is also really relevant because it is important that if the students are going to wear something they should be allowed to wear whichever piece of the uniform they want, like girls should be allowed to wear pants and guys should be allowed to wear skirts if they want. To prevent this issue they should just not have students be restricted to wear uniforms because then students and teachers wouldn’t have to go through the issue of gender.

 The teachers do have a good reason for why students should wear them. In the article, Issue Overview: Should Students Have To Wear Uniforms, the author stated, “The wearing of uniforms contributes to school pride.” The teachers are right about the uniforms showing school pride but there are more ways to show spirit. Like having spirit days. It is a fun way to show school spirit. Wearing uniforms isn’t as well as a spirit day because they aren’t as fun, students don’t even like them, and they cause a lot of issues. 

Lastly, I interviewed my friend that experiences wearing uniforms at his school. He thinks it is not fair that he has to wear them because he wants his own freedom to be able to choose whatever he wants to wear. He thinks students should express themselves with their own clothes. Many students who experience this would agree that it isn’t fair that they have to wear uniforms. In conclusion, I think that uniforms should not be worn by students because they cause a lot of problems.
