Da Gama grew up with 5 other siblings. He was the 3 of all of  them.His siblings names were Paulo Da Gama, Teresa Da Gama, Pedro Da Gama, Joao Sodre Da Gama and Aires Da Gama.
Vasco Da Gama started to explore mostly because his father was an explorer. He had taken 4 ships and 170 crew!
With help from strong winds and calm seas, he sailed all the way around Africa  and into the Indian Ocean. Not long after, he landed in modern day Kenya. There he hd found a man who knew his way to India, so he had hired him. Using the mans skills, he had finally arrived in India in 1498. In India Vasco Da Gama traded spices, silks and much more, but the Indians didn't acept it so they asked him to leave.
Unfortunately on the way back home he had lost 2 ships .

Vasco Da Gama's job was to force Indians to trade with Portugal and distrupt Arab traders.when Vasco Da Gama got upset that the Indians were not trading with him he bomed Indian towns and killed Arab traders.

In  1538 Vasco Da Gama's body was returned to Portugal.
