Charles Richard Drew was one of the most important figures in the world of blood storage. First, he discovered the method to the long term storage of plasma. Then, he organized the USA's first large scale blood bank. I chose Charles Richard Drew because he was one of the most important inventors in American history, he has saved so many lives with his inventions of plasma storage and large blood banks. Not only is he an inventor but he is a hero.

Gladys West in my opinion was one if the most important inventors globally. She created GPS (global positioning system). So much in our world relies on GPS like navigation and transportation, it is hard to imagine a world without GPS. I chose Gladys West because she created one of the most important and revolutionary systems in our world.

Alice Ball created an inject able oil extract that was effective for treating leprosy. What is also important is that Alice Ball's discoveries were not published due to a demonstration which caused her early death, neither were they acknowledged for a long time. I chose Alice Ball because of her important discoveries in leprosy treatment and her unrecognized discoveries.

Katherine Johnson was an important and intelligent mathematician working for NASA. Most notably, Katherine Johnson calculated the trajectory of Apollo 11 on its journeys to and from the moon. I chose Katherine Johnson because she was one of the most accomplished mathematicians, applied her great skills on Apollo 11, and has a very popular and influential legacy.

Patricia Bath was an intelligent and well accomplished ophthalmologist. Patricia Bath's most notable discovery was her invention of the laserphaco which is a new device and technique for treating cataracts. Also, Patricia Bath was the first woman to be the head of an ophthalmology program residency in the United States. I chose Patricia Bath because she has relieved and helped so many people get over cataracts through her laserphaco invention and technique.
