A year later in 1955, the Brown Vs. Board of Education II gave hope to the people who pushed for the first Brown Vs. Board of Education. The Brown II was put into place to display that desegregation in schools was not happening fast enough. This became an opportunity for the school system in the South to extend the process of integration and push for all schools to treat students equally.

This was a test to see in the Brown Vs. Board of Education really worked. Unfortunately, when the first day of school came the Arkansas National Guard was called in to block the nine students from entering the high school.

In Topeka, Kansas in 1951a student named Linda Brown was denied entrance of the all- white elementary school. Linda’s father, Oliver Brown, then filed a class- action suit against the Board of Education stating that schools for black children were not equal to the schools for white children. In 1954, Brown Vs. Board of Education was a major foundation in the Civil Rights movement and changed things for the future education system. This Supreme Court case justified that “separate- but- equal” was not at all equal. Racial segregation of students in public school should be forbidden.

This case was a major step in the Civil Rights movement. After the Brown Vs. Board of Education II, in 1955, the court ordered to desegregate schools.
