The Beatles got their first big gig in Hamburg, Germany. They played long 6 hour shows, and had few breaks. This made them play hundreds of songs a week.

The Beatles were performing at The Cavern Club when a wealthy man, Brian Epstein, saw them and was impressed. He asked them if they needed a manager. After a while of searching, he finally got a recording job with EMI, with George Martin as the producer. This came with a cost. Martin did not think that Pete Best, the Beatles current drummer, was talented enough. They got Ringo Starr to fill in as drums. Many fans were mad at this decision and they would often hear Pete's name being chanted at concerts.

America and Fame

Soon after getting a recording job, they started releasing big hits. The band released many songs like Love me Do, Please Please Me, and From me to You. Most of their songs did great and got on the charts, even though most of them were bubblegum sounding songs that mainly talked about love and girls. There was talk about them doing a tour in America, but there was so much history with failing British artists in America. The Beatles said they would go to America if they had a #1 song on the American Charts. They did this with their song "I Want to Hold Your Hand", so they flew to America. There was an instant craze in America that was already happening in Britain, which was Beatlemania. When they arrived in America they were already being attacked by teenage girls, this showed them they were there to stay.

The Beatles finally reached what we know them as today. They played on the Ed Sullivan Show and got over 70 million viewers. This is a huge amount of people watching even in today's current numbers. There was so many people watching the crime rate dropped while the Beatles were aired on TV. The Beatles changed the way music is today. They releases constant #1 hits. They set the format for how rock n roll will happen for the next few decades. With band members writing their own songs, and a producer. They were the only thing that was on the mind of kids in terms of music, and any noise they made could probably reach the top 10 charts. The Beatles were short lived, but they were extremely influential.
