Mindy Meyers:
The brought the opportunity for access to facilities for shelter. Parks and Rec offered child care opportunities for UMC and for other workers who were serving due to the pandemic. They did not last very long, but it was offered. They were also on standby with a recreation center to be a child haven in case of break outs. They also offered a school days program for kids who would have been in school.
Kristin Cooper:
They all brought a lot of flexibility in their thinking. Because they knew very little in the beginning of the pandemic, they were learning on the fly and they had to come up with ideas and everyone was very good at them.
Michael Wilson:
Meals to students 80k per day 7 days a week.
Used schools for testing and vaccinations
Vickie:
They were able to help qualify and organize services while also being able to mobilize them at the same time. Their team did a really good job of catching on and managing this.

Kristin Cooper:
She was brand new at her job and had no idea that they were supposed to be a part of ESF 6 and how to operate within the ESF. The everchanging information on how the virus spread.
Vickie:
The software that was used to gather the information required a learning curve to use. There was a lot of documentation that needed to be inputted. She hopes that there could be a trained group of people in case there is another situation like this who could help others understand the software. The platform to gather volunteer information did not exist at the beginning of the pandemic. They had to create this system as they went. It was difficult to mobilize people to do tasks before they had the ability to. They need a better way to gather info immediately as far as gaining volunteers for new tasks. The health district had gift cards that were used to help people who needed to stay in their homes, but some of the cards were not fully loaded.
Diane:
Having to use new technology and new systems to respond to the disasters. Because of that, and because a lot of their volunteers are older, they did lose a lot of volunteers, and the ones that stayed were reluctant to use the systems. Some of the systems worked for a while until there was a large influx and then they did not. The red cross is not able to immediately bring in volunteers. There are a lot of things that are required. They did use hotels instead of congregate shelters, however it did cause more problems. There were many things they had to consider when it came to housing people in hotels.
(VOAD - Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster)

Kristin Cooper:
No one wanted to be known as the "COVID Hotel". They had to be educated on homeless populations and their relation to COVID. Trying to find locations that were suitable to house people.
Mindy Meyers:
The PPE warehouse. It enables them to do everything. The ability to order what you needed to open was great. All the rules kept changing which kept things very confusing. Also 90% of employees were deemed non-essential but they ended up needing to be called back in but they were afraid to come back.
Vickie:
People understanding how to tell them what they are able to do. Out of a panic, people did not understand how to send and receive information.

Vickie:
A volunteer management system. A way to collect information about volunteers.
Diane:
Lack of personnel. People who are willing to get out there and mix and mingle now. Overall, a lot of the communities that have people with a lot of personal capabilities did not have insurance, a credit card, etc and could not find a place to stay and as the pandemic has gone on, it has gotten worse.
Mindy Meyers:
PPE. while there was PPE, there was not always enough. The cleaning efforts. When they are trying to bring people into their facilities, things needed to be cleaned thoroughly every night. They were not always able to get that.
Kristin Cooper:
They needed 2000 rooms for their homeless pop. but they only had 350. Now, 2 years later, they are up to 600, but it is costly to keep going.

Kristin Cooper:
There needed to be more coordination between the housing side and the healthcare side.
Vicky:
Maintain a list of the Clark County employees who supported the COVID-19 operation through reassignment
• Keep a list of all volunteers who were active for the COVID-19 operation
• Keep a list of all people who registered to volunteer and their contact information

Noncongregate quarantining sites.
Making sure to include case management to track those who they are housing.
Diane:
For the redcross, some of the things they did and the way they responded will be helpful in the future.

Mindy Meyers:
Three Square and the Culinary Academy did a great job providing meals and the community was so appreciative and it was a great partnership.
Vickie:
Build and maintain a resource management website, with a specific landing page for Donations and Volunteer Management. Information gathered for donations and volunteers should include all information required to complete an ARF (Clark County Action Request Form). This can be used as the volunteer management system. The backend of the volunteer and donation page must link to an Excel sheet. One of the donations questions must prompt the person to confirm if they are offering a true donation or expect compensation. The donations page must also have the flexibility to request both specific and/or general donations. This website or landing page does not have to be live; however, should be readily accessible by the Emergency Management team. Development of a page where individual people can request assistance. This page must back end to an Excel spreadsheet. This can include, but not limited to assistance with groceries, medicine, paper goods, transportation, a person to help locate resources, etcetera.
