1. Read the first slide as an introduction to the treaty of Versailles, view the pictures showing you the Palace of Versailles where it was signed.

1. Listen to the announcement made by Australian Prime minister Robert Menzies in 1939 (if you click on the black box on slide 2 it should load). 
2. Read the information of slides 3, 4 and 5 on what Australia was doing at the beginning of WW2. 
3. Play the clip on slide 6 of John Curtin announcing the war in the pacific in 1941 (click play on the picture). Answer the 3 questions on this slide. 
4. Read John Curtin's reasoning on slide 7. Do you think he was justified in pulling forces out of Europe?
