         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Content Descriptor: <br></strong>Identify and describe emotional responses people may experience in different situations <a href="http://victoriancurriculum.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Curriculum/ContentDescription/VCHPEP061">(VCHPEP061)</a><br><br><strong>Elaboration:<br>- I</strong>dentifying and describing the emotions of people who are happy, sad, excited, tired, angry, scared or confused<strong><br>- </strong>Learning and using appropriate language and actions to communicate their feelings in different situations at home and at school<br><br><strong>Introduction: <br>- </strong>Discuss and label different emotions and how they feel<strong><br></strong>- Brainstorm some of the ways that we can identify how other people are feeling i.e. what emotions look like<br>- Lead into a discussion of verbal and non-verbal cues e.g. facial expression, posture, tone, words etc.<strong><br></strong><br></div><div><strong>Activity <br></strong>As a whole class, students will participate in a charades-like game. Students will take turns responding to a situational prompt given by the teacher e.g. "your parents won't let you watch your favourite tv show". Each student will attempt to act out the emotion associated with the prompt without using words. The rest of the class will attempt to identify the emotion that the student is role playing.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><strong>Conclusion<br></strong>As a whole class, students will reflect on the different methods of identifying the emotions that others are feeling (verbal and non verbal), as well as the benefits of being able to recognise the emotions of others.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>
