This is where the agreement emerged: over five years, there will be an exchange of more than 500,000 people, including 50,000 skilled and semi-skilled workers, from India to Japan. This program is not just about labor, but also encompasses educational, research, and cultural exchanges as an effort to strengthen relations between the two countries.

Why Japanese citizens react negatively? Because there are so many factor that are concerning for them, such as fear about culture and identity crisis.

Japanese people are homogeneous and they are quite strict to their traditions passed down from ancestors.

Japanese people are afraid to lose their job, because there is a high chance where immigrants may take lower wage jobs and push Japanese people out from their job position.

I think that the government should test and adjust based on the integration success before dealing 500,000. This will determine if the new policy is a success or a failure. By adjusting the immigrant's rate, we can monitor and collect data if the public can adapt to this new policy or no chance at all.

But of course, it’s not gonna be all smooth. The biggest challenge is still the language. If you don’t speak Japanese well, it’s hard to work, study, or even deal with daily stuff like renting a place or talking to locals. Adapting to Japan’s work culture can be another struggle, because the long working hours, company rules, and hierarchy can feel pretty strict for newcomers. And even though some visa rules have been made easier, it’s still not that simple to get a long-term visa or permanent residency and also you need good income, clean records, and other requirements.

So overall, I think immigration from India to Japan will probably grow a lot and it’s a good thing for both sides. But for it to really work, both Japan and the immigrants need to put in the effort to deal with the language, cultural differences, and the paperwork so things can go more smoothly.

On the other hand, Japan must also prepare for cultural adaptation, social integration, and fair immigration policies. If both countries work together effectively, this movement will not only strengthen the economy but also enrich Japan’s cultural diversity.
