Conduction is the direct transfer of heat from one object to another object or substance that is touching. Wind is produced by the movement of air due to differences in air pressure. Convection is a circulation pattern caused by hot and cold temperatures.

At the equator the solar radiation is hitting the Earth at a 90 degree angle causing the air and surface temperatures to be high. At the poles the solar radiation is hitting the Earth at a lesser angle resulting in the heat and energy to be spread out over a greater area. This causes the pole surface and air temperatures to be cooler than near the equator.
