Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most famous and admired artists in the world. He is known for painting, drawing, sculpting, engineering and inventing. His best known paintings are the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.
The Mona Lisa was painted sometime between 1503 and 1519 by Leonardo da Vinci. It is an oil painting on a wood panel. It hangs in its own room in the Louvre museum in Paris.
The Last Supper was painted by Leonardo da Vinci between 1495 and 1498. It shows a scene from the bible where Jesus tells the apostles that one of them will betray him. The painting is on a wall in a convent in Milan. It is over 4 metres high by 8 metres long. It has nearly been destroyed several times over the years but has now been restored and protected in the convent.
