Equestrian riding became a sport in the Olympic games, in Paris of 1912. Dressage goes back as far as ancient Greece. The first Olympic appereence was in the 1956 olypmic game. In the beginning only men could compete. Now men and women can compete against eachother.   

On January 12th 1969, a championship football game between the New York Jets and the Baltimore Colts took place in Miami's Orange Bowl. The New York Jets took a 16 to 7 victory over the favored Baltimore Colts, in the first game officially known as the "super bowl." The Pro football Hall of Fame wrote that the game did not become the event until the New York Jets led the 16 to 7 upset. This game was credited with making the Super Bowl a National spectacle. Millions of people flocked to their television to watch this game, and 30 years later they are still watching.

 in  1900 competing for France the FIRST black athlete to compete at the Olympics was Constantin Henriquez de Zubiera. The FIRST black athlete to win a gold medal was  African-American John Taylor, who was part of the  US relay team in athletics in 1908.  The first black baseball player was Jackie Robinson for Brooklyn.  The first black Quarter Back was Willie Thrower of the Chicago Bears.

Cheerleading is by far the most dangerous activity for females, due to the fact that concussions occur and often go unnoticed.

If it was considered a sport then it could be regulated more so than if it was simply just an activity.

It takes many hours of practice and the cheerleaders need to be synchronized because teamwork is the key to success.

Cheerleading takes a lot of effort and skill to preform the routines for competition.

There are competitions for cheerleading, just like any other sport, so this means that it has similar characteristics of a sport.

If you ever have an extra couple of hours try to go and attend; these competitions are well developed, very organized, and extremely entertaining to watch.

The court size needs to be 6 by 52 feet. The size of the cues can have a maximum of 6 feet 3 inches.

The discs need to be 1 by 6 inches, (four red, four black). Can play as singles or doubles, and you fire eight shots. If you play doubles, you do not switch sides, and the game may be 50, 75, or 100 points, whatever the player desires.

Horse Racing is one of the oldest sporting events that still remain popular
around the world. The Romans had chariot races with horses running for hundreds of years, but the first time horse racing was documented in the United States wasn’t until 1665.  It wasn’t until 1868 when horse racing started to become an organized sport in the USA.

The horse racing commission, composed of three members appointed by the governor, is responsible for licensing, regulating and supervising all horse racing meets in the state where the parimutuel system is used. The commission also approves and regulates satellite locations and simulcasting, and licenses and regulates advance deposit wagering.

Many people believe that the sport of rugby was born in 1823 in Victorian England when a student picked up a ball during a soccer game and began running with it. Which led to William Webb Ellis creating a sport that combined speed, and skill with strength and toughness. This sport's fast-pace nature has made it popular all over the world. The sport of  rugby is most popular in Northern England from Yorkshire to Lancashire and is also popular in Cumbria where the amateur game is particularly powerful. The game is played and watched outside of these traditional areas in far lower but growing numbers.
