On parle également de paysage pour désigner sa représentation dans une œuvre : représentation d’un site ou d'un espace réel ou imaginaire, figuratif ou non figuratif, par la peinture, le dessin, la photographie, etc.

Murray Schafer, compositeur et écologiste canadien.
L'expression « paysage sonore » désigne un enregistrement audio ou à une performance sonore qui donnent la sensation de se trouver dans un environnement sonore particulier.
Les compositeurs de toutes les époques ont retranscrit ce qui les entouraient  grâce aux orchestres et aux voix. Depuis le XXIème siècle, les enregistrements audio se sont ajoutés à la création orchestrale.
