He tells Lady Macbeth that he cannot go through with the plan and she gets mad at him since she would never break a promise herself. She tells him how she will get the king's guards drunk at night and then they can kill the king. Macbeth decides to go on with the plan. They learned that Macbeth killed Macdonald. Macbeth battles the Thane of Cawdor, capturing him and Duncan sentences the Thane of Cawdor to death and Macbeth becomes the new Thane. "No more that Thane of Cawdor shall deceive our bosom interest. Go pronounce his present death and with his former title greet Macbeth." Ross arrives to tell him of the King's delight after hearing about Macbeths succes and tells him, that he is now Thane of Cawdor. He worries about the death of Duncan.
