According to “Whose Vote Counts.” the History of segregation in the United States, during the 1867 era of “Jim Crow “laws, were horrible and diabolical, especially the segregation of the colored people. Today we live in the 21st centuries, and we think that the United States have improved a lot, thanks to many people that fought and died to get equal rights for everyone. We believe that we are facing systematic inequalities in different ways still, for example, during the pandemic people were waiting for more than 5 hours in extreme waters to vote. We can clearly see that in many States the government did not bring facilitation to make the process of election any safer or easier to vote.

1. I think that identification should be required to vote but with that being said access to securing identification should be more accessible.
2. As social workers we are not politicians but advocates. It is our job to lobby and pressure those in charge (politicians) to allow mail in voting in order to fulfill every citizens' right to vote.
3. During the pandemic mail in voting was highly popular in concept. Although mail in voting seemed like an easy solution to surpass the difficulties that would be faced during the pandemic, many politicians moved to suppress this form of voting. Creating an injustice to those who decided to stay at home in order to protect their health.
4. Laws that have been recently created in order to cause difficulties for citizens to vote is against their constitutional rights. Our country was founded on the idea of democracy were everyone has a voice. For example, Texas passed a suppression voting law (S.B. 1), that violates the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Voting Rights Act, and First, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments. In this law makes it more difficult for voters with impairments or linguistic challenges to obtain assistance. It also makes poll monitors' harassment of voters and election officials simpler. It also prohibits 24-hour and drive-thru voting, both of which were implemented to make voting safer and simpler during the pandemic.

1. I think identification should be required however, there should be some sort of privacy/security around them.
2. I know mail-in voters are a big part of the percentage of people who vote. They should be one of the top priorities to ensure those votes go through. I think things like neon envelopes or a "receipt" to the mail-in voter.
3. I think with the pandemic a lot of people were afraid of " touching" things or let alone have any contact. So mail-in voters were a high demand since it avoided the whole contact situation. It is a very difficult thing especially when in a state like Texas where people don't believe in covid.
4. There has been a lot of laws that have been created back then and now that are here to stop people from voting. The one that sticks out to me if I'm not mistaken here in texas is the bill Sb1. I believe it is a pretty famous one right now in Texas. One part that stood out for me is where they mentioned they want to not allow non-English speakers to not vote. It getting rid of a percentage of the voters in Texas.

1) I think presenting an identification should be requirement to have access to vote, but like Giselle mentioned they should have privacy/ security.
2) I don't think there is a way to make mail-in coming more secure, there are so many things that could go wrong with it. It could never arrive, it could get lost, it could get opened and personal information could be easily accessed to.
3) Although many people benefited with mail-in ballot voting, a lot of politicians took advantage of it by falsifying voting information.
4) I honestly think that making it harder for certain communities in the state is part of a technique to suppress voters based on socialism. I know that Texas has reduced the number of polling stations in some parts of the state by 50%. This just demonstrates that the government/ political parties know where to place polling stations based on what it's more convenient for them, making it more difficult for certain populations to have access to voting.
