Reflect on how you felt at the beginning of the year compared to now.

At the beginning of the year, I felt nervous but excited about what 10th grade would bring. I wasn’t sure how hard my classes would be or how I’d manage everything, especially with new teachers and higher expectations. As the year went on, I faced some challenges, but I also grew more confident and learned how to manage my time better. I made new friends, got more involved, and found out what I’m really capable of. Now that the school year is almost over, I feel proud of how far I’ve come. I’ve grown not just academically, but also personally. Looking back, I’m glad I kept pushing forward even when things got tough.

One project I’m especially proud of was a speech assignment where I had to create and present my own business. I came up with a cute cosmetics store called Opulent Glow. I designed every detail, from the products to the store’s layout and branding. The store had soft beige and pink tones, a glamorous neon sign, and was organized by collections like Face, Lips, Skincare, and Hair. I enjoyed combining creativity with business planning, and it was exciting to share something I was passionate about with the class. It was a project that really showed my design skills, confidence, and ability to think like an entrepreneur.

One book I read this year that really impacted me was It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. The story follows a woman named Lily as she navigates love, pain, and difficult choices in a complicated relationship. What stood out to me most was how the book tackled the cycle of abuse with honesty and emotion. It made me think deeply about how love isn’t always enough, and how strength sometimes means walking away. The characters felt real, and the emotional journey stayed with me long after I finished reading. It was powerful, heartbreaking, and eye-opening all at once.

One academic challenge I faced was in my biology class. It was really stressful at times, especially with all the Edpuzzles, notes, and homework piling up each week. I sometimes felt overwhelmed trying to keep up. To get through it, I started creating a schedule to break the assignments into smaller parts and made sure to stay on top of the Edpuzzles before they built up. I also asked for help when I needed it and found that reviewing the material a little bit each day made a big difference. In the end, I got everything done and did well in the class. It taught me that staying organized and consistent really helps when things feel stressful.

The poem "Still I Rise" by Maya Angelou inspired me this year because of its strong message about resilience and confidence. No matter what challenges come your way, you can still rise above them. I connected with the lines about not letting others define your worth and found strength in its bold, uplifting tone. It reminded me to stay proud of who I am and to keep going even when things get tough.

Reflect on your hopes for junior year and beyond.

Junior year feels like one of the most important years of high school because it really sets the foundation for college. This year, I’m taking on more dual enrollment classes, which means I’m not only challenging myself but also earning college credits early. It’s a big step toward preparing for the future and making sure I’m ready for the next chapter. I know junior year will be demanding, but it’s exciting to think that the work I put in now will open doors for college and beyond. Staying focused and balancing everything will be key, and I’m ready to take on that responsibility. The quote that I chose that represents my mindset is "Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." By Malcolm X.
