And it's in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the history takes place. 
 
Unfortunately, he has lung cancer which leads him to a life crises since he thinks that life is unfair as he has always been ethic and right. In consequence, as he wants his family to be safe of any financial issues, he is getting into drug trafficking attracted by easy money. 

Together with a former student, Jess Pinkman, they will form a team were using his knowledge in chemistry, he will « cook » the methamphetamine and his student will use his network and knowledge on field to sell the drug.

Together, they will go on a path sown with danger.
