Co-Op by

During my time on Co-Op my professional Goal this year is to understand the importance of veterinary medicine and how and when it's appropriate to use it. There are so many different medications that are given and it is very important to know when to give it and why and when not to and why. I also want to know the dose rates. I understand that dose rates are critical in veterinary medicine and that is a topic I need to understand.

My personal Goal for my time during Co-Op is to become really good at mastering tasks throughout my day. My second goal is to find a place in the hospital where I feel I belong and I enjoy working in. I will do so by paying close attention and asking questions I have. I hope for my goal to be achieved by May. I want to become really good at what I do during my opportunity in the veterinary hospital and grow for my future self.

I have worked very hard to get to this point. I have been on top of my grades and will continue to work even harder than I have been. I have gotten all my Co-Op paperwork signed and filled out. I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity given to me.

I prepared over this past summer for Co-Op. I sent out my resume and cover letters to almost every vet office on Cape and heard back from several; the office that stood out to me the most was the one in Buzzards Bay because this office is a 24/7 hospital for animals. I interviewed with my employer, she showed me around and I realized this is where I wanted to work. She already had set up my schedule for me to work in every department so I am able to figure out what I enjoy the most.

During my experience on Co-Op my professional goal this year was to be able to understand the importance of veterinary medicine. I have learned so much about medication this year. I have learned the names of the drugs, what they are used for and the importance of dose rates. I now also have a better understanding of some of the benefits of the medications, how they work and its side effects.

My personal goal during Co-Op was to be confident in the tasks I needed to complete during the day. I have definitely become confident and am able to work independently. I understand a lot of what is going on and what I need to do. My second goal was to find a place in the hospital where I felt I belonged. I shadowed and helped in all departments gaining so much knowledge and understanding. Being able to work in each department helped me for my future.

During my time on co-op, I have worked extremely hard to become where I am now. I enjoy working as a kennel assistant because there is a lot of variety of jobs to do. I am very grateful that I was able to work in each department because it really helped me in my path for my future because I now know what I enjoy doing and what helps me to be inspired. I am very grateful for working at the animal hospital and the many opportunities it has provided me.
