I feel like this was a very important part of the plot and they should not have left it out.

It focused a lot on the barricade, when there were other details that should have also been focused on. The very end felt rushed, including Javert doing suicide and JVJ dying of age.

In a book, we typically get to see what a person is thinking through lines in the text. In a movie, we don't typically get an internal view of a character's thoughts. I think adding the music gave a chance for characters to show their thoughts and feelings in a more obvious way.

Another one is that it is much shorter and if they used the book word for word the film would probably be a lot longer. Another difference is that I don't feel that the movie goes into as much detail as the book does.

I think the music made scenes more emotional. Everyone sings their own voice, like when Eponine sings to Marius she is saying how she likes him but he doesn't notice but he is singing about Cosette, almost saying their thoughts out loud. You can also feel the emotion through music by the tone and lyrics they are saying which makes you understand the scene more.

Musical numbers played an important role in this film. When reading a novel, it can be hard to imagine what's happening. With the musical number, we can hear the characters' emotions through their voices and faces. The background music also adds to the intensity of each scene. There was soft music for the sad scenes and harsher music for the other scenes.

I noticed that the book had a lot more key details and smaller things that added to the plot. Hugo went in-depth with the story to help the reader get a strong understanding. On the other hand the movie had a few more action-packed scenes to keep the audience intrigued. I like both the book and the moive.

I think the musical numbers are supposed to give more character to the dialogue. They also make it easier to show certain emotions than if they were just speaking. I think that singing was a good addition, especially for the barricade, because it portrayed their feelings about the situation better.

The music is important because it is a way of directly conveying the mood of the scene. The musical numbers help us form the mood in our minds a little better. If the music was slower and quieter then it helped the scene become sadder. When the music was faster and more upbeat then the scene was formed as happy and uplifting.
