Have you ever watched Pokemon or played Pokemon Go?

After watching this video, I realise some Pokemon are actually very similar to some real animals. But it is sad that they are endangered because of hunting and habitat loss. The next generation will have no chance to meet them unless we conserve these animals. To save the endangered animals, I think we can start from learning more about the endangered species around Asia and teach our friends and family to protect these animals. Also, people should stop hunting the endangered species for food and fur.

Will you protect the endangered species?

But the water is not enough to drink . Also ,it is very dirty. Many deadly deceases are found in the water.

After watching this video , I think in Hong Kong ,people are very lucky .Clean water are easy to find .So that many water are wasted by us in daily life .
I think we should cherish the water and help the people that do not get clean water to drink .

How can we help the poor people to get clean water?

Most easy way to help poor people to get water is donating the money to the International Relief Organization, such as Worldvision (宣明會) .Worldvision help the poor people in Developing countries to drill wells .So that they can get clean water . Also, they provide some water purification agent (淨水濟) to the people and teach them to purify water by using the water purification agent. So that the supply of clean water increases. Donate money to the organization can provide the money to them for the funds to help people .

Finally, what do you think about the video ?

Food Waste – what is all about?

When we talk about food waste, our attention is normally focused on the food

that we throw into our bins; but food waste is bigger than that. Food waste is included any edible and inedible food item meant for human consumption which for one reason or other is discarded to become waste . Food waste occurs at different points along the food supply chain, mainly at the retail and consumption stages in high income countries and the farm gate in low-income countries.
My comment
Food waste occurs all over the world, it is a problem because it amounts to wasting money and huge amount of scarce resources like soil nutrients, water, land, biodiversity, packing and processing resources, energy used for producing food. Food waste has negative consequences for social and environmental sustainability . It has been estimated that globally, about 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted annually . In UK, this is over 15 million tonnes .Yet food insecurity persists in several countries, with an estimated 795 million people undernourished globally. Even in the advanced countries, food insecurity exists among some households in deprived communities. Therefore food waste has become a hot political topic .

The fundamental problem with food waste is that ‘Waste’ is embedded in the current food regime. In one sense, food is too expensive for some and in another, it is too cheap . A contradiction difficult to be resolved. Our food system is based on industrialised food production, and waste is locked in the system. Food waste only brings the inefficiencies to the surface. Therefore, we should stop wasting food to save human being , and also our world.

As Bloomberg reports, this change has left the country short of land on which to grow produce and raise livestock.

While the Western diet typically demands about one acre per person, China has only 0.2 acres to devote to feeding each citizen.

Description - In Hong Kong, the problem of food waste has dominated our attention so much that we have almost forgotten about warnings of an impending food crisis and food security issue - such as families being able to meet even basic nutritional needs - that exist here and elsewhere in Asia.

Reflection - Many children in Hong Kong misunderstood how food is grown, harvested, processed, and distributed. There is little concern about wasting food. Today, in our city with an average of 3237 tonnes of food waste produced daily. Yet this waste is avoidable provided supermarkets, restaurants, schools, fresh food market and families all commit to prevent food losses at any point from “farm to fork”. Food is wasted at home when we buy more than we need; supermarkets and shops try to create an image of “prosperity” and “freshness” by putting excessive amounts of produce on the shelves, which is more than they can sell. What can we do to control this crisis? We can enforce with a combination of effective policies, such as waste charging and public education. Everyone in Hong Kong should pledge to make every effort to enhance our food security by eliminating avoidable food losses and wasteful habits. More importantly, the government needs to rethink our agricultural policy to ensure a resilient food supply and emphasise local production and local economy.

Description:

This video talks about the food problem in India.India has been facing food problems since long period. The people in India is facing the big problem—hunger everyday. In India famine, there was nearly 3.5 million people died out of starvation.Theere was 3000 children died because of the food problem which related to illness.

My reflection:

After watching this video,I have learnt several things.I have learnt that the children in Hong Kong is very lucky. We don’t have to face the food problem or famine. We don’t have to face hunger. We can have enough food and drinks everyday. We don’t need to worry about food. However,as we don’t need to worry about food, the food waste problem in Hong Kong is very seroius.People in Hong Kong waste lots of food everyday. There is approximately 3,640 tonnes food waste produced in Hong Kong every day.We are lucky that we don’t need to face the food problem. But we shouldn’t waste food.In order to reducing food waste,we should stop wasting food and reduction at Source. So that we can reduce the amount of food waste. Moreover,I have learnt that the food policy in India is poor. The population of India is increasing at a very high rate. The annual average growth rate of population in India has declined slightly from -2.5 per cent during the decade 1961-71 and 1971-81 to 2.1 percent in 1981-91 and then to 1.9 per cent in 1991-2001.It shows that the population growth in India increased in a hight rate.In India, the farm consumption of foodgrains is increasing with the increase in agricultural output. Thus, due to this increasing home consumption the marketable surplus of foodgrains could not increase substantially. This is a important reason that caused the food problem in India too.In order to solve the food problem in India, the government can provide more irrigation facilities. It can promote family planning programmes too. Also, the government should bann over black marketing of food.

Overall,Africa has about 9% of the world's fresh water resources and 11% of the world's population. This is compounded by the fact the Africa has the fastest urbanizationrates in the world. Water development and management are much more complex due to the multiplicity of trans-boundary water resources (rivers, lakes andaquifers). Around 75% of sub-Saharan Africa falls within 53 international river basin catchments that traverse multiple borders. This particular constraint can also be converted into an opportunity if the potential for trans-boundary cooperation is harnessed in the development of the area’s water resources. A multi-sectoral analysis of the Zambezi River, for example, shows that riparian cooperation could lead to a 23% increase in firm energy production without any additional investments. A number of institutional and legal frameworks for transboundary cooperation exist, such as the Zambezi River Authority, the Southern African Development Community SADC) Protocol, Volta River Authority and the Nile Basin Commission.

2B 31 Ngai Chun Hin
Description
In some developing countries, water resources are enough to every people. That's why many people died in some developing countries such as Pakistan and India. The quality and the quantity of water is low. The unclean water has caused a lot of health problems and thus many people died. According to the WHO's report, 1.7 million people died due to unsafe water supplies. However, the government of those developing countries still cannot solve the problem.

Reflection:
In Hong Kong, clean water supplies are enough for our daily uses and we can support our daily life by using water. However, in the developing countries, the people are not lucky and they have to face the problem of water. The unclean water resources have caused a lot of inconvenience in their living and they can't live without water. Clean water resources are actually very important to them. With only the unsafe water, diseases can easily spread and thus many innocent people die, especially children. That's why clean water is important. However, in Hong Kong, we don't even need to worry about water while many people are suffering from water scarcity. This tells us to save water as much as possible in our daily life. Before we waste the water, we should think about the innocent and poor people in the developing countries. We also need to help them as much as possible. For example, we can donate the money to some charities and organizations which can give them support and relieves to solve the problem. Your help can save the people in those developing countries.

Lai Pei Ling 2B (11)

Description:

This video is talking about 1.2 billion people in the world are living in water scarcity because of the consumption and demand of the water in the world are intensify increase. The reason for this is the people living in a higher standard and to use more water. Also, it mentions about how can we reduce and the water to solve this huge problem in our world. For instance, we can use the recycling technology which is advanced filtration and zero discharge closed-loop water recycling system can save more water.

Reflection:

After I watch this video, I think we should treasure our water resources because many places in our world haven’t had enough water and cause droughts like northern China and North Africa. Also, I think the fastest way is everyone to save more water in our daily life directly. For example, we should cut the showers short. Longer shower heads can use as much as 5 gallons of water per minute. Speed things up in the shower can save more water than you think. Second I think the government should do some policy to help to save this problem. In China, the government has some water transfer project to help this problem like The South to North Water Transfer Project and I think the policy in different places also is a good way to solve this. Without the direct way to solve this problem, we also can use some indirectly way like we can buy fewer clothes and the factory can produce fewer clothes. When the factory to produce clothes, usually will use much water and pollute the water. If we can buy fewer clothes, we can also help to save water.

Description:

In this diagram, we can see that in 1938 to 2013, there were more than 15 flooding which were happening in China. And, most of them are happened in Southern and central China. Also, the flooding was happening near the main river in China such as Huang He, Huai He and Dongting Lake.

Reflection:

After I read this diagram, I think that can be many factors for cause flooding. In these more than 20 times of flooding, only 9 times of flooding were casing in 20th century. That can see the flooding will become more and more. There also has many human factor like using more concrete混凝土 and asphalt 沥青 to covered the land. That makes the water cannot infiltrate when precipitation starts, then get overland flow increase. Or the physical factor like Relief, the silting makes the river become shallow and cannot hold more water as before. Then during the rainstorms, the flooding occurs easily.

And I think that we should use water carefully because the water that we can use too less. And waste water can make the problems like over-drawing groundwater can make the lake become dry up to get silting. I also think that the government need to tell the people to know the importance about water. That maybe can let the flooding decrease.

Description

This article is about Africa’s food crisis. In 1980s, there is the most intractable food problem that facing the world. In sub-Saharan Africa (the poorest part of the world), the food and hunger crisis.

Although the crisis follows by less than a decade the prolonged drought of the early 1970s in the Sahelian states of West Africa, the current dilemma is not caused by weather. Improved international disaster assistance programs can avert mass starvation and famine and assist with refugee resettlement.

Reflection

Africa is a kind of well-known place that have serious food problem, Sub-Saharan Africa faces specific and complex challenges.

In the source, it had mention about the number of hungry people in the continent rose to 239 million in 2012 and 40% of children under five years old are stunted due to malnutrition. Africa's population is expected to almost double by 2050, bringing it to almost 2 billion people. Based on present trends, the current African food production system would be able to meet only 13% of the continent's needs by 2050.

It means that the main problem of food problem in Africa is among of population increase and the food demand is decrease.

To solve this problem, food aid is one of the ways the solve it. Although it is a short term measure, it is a direct and immediate solution to food shortages. Also lowering the birth rate can reduce the pressure on local food production. Using the sustainable farming methods can improve the food supply to increase the food demand, such as set up irrigation kit or build barriers of rock. These methods can help to improve the food problem in Africa.

According to the famous book EAT DRINK VOTE, many problems are appearing in the food of the America. However, the government aren't stopping it.

Reflection:
In Hong Kong, some problems can be use to improve our food safety. For example, the food labels in Hong Kong is also quite confusing too. Have you ever once bought a food which promotes healthy food included or made by organic food? If yes, did you check the food labels? I believe that you will soon give up. Although the food labels in Hong Kong is already better than the America, they are still very confusing! You can't read those things since they are the scientific names of the food such as acid of sugar written as oxalic acid, Jamaican guava is called Psidium dumetorum. We can solve these problems by enforcing people to makes some easily-read labels in order to make things right. However, this can be succeed only if we join this activities together.

This shows the feeling when people see the food labels.

Deforestation cause decrease of transpiration, infiltration and precipitation. These will waste the water. I think that we should have some change. We can cut trees, but not cutting a large scale of tree. Also we should plant the tree afterward. We should use water that in lake or river instead of underground water. We may solve some problems on water if we can do these.

According to the World Health Organization, only 0.007% of the world`s total water supply is safe for consumption, and this minuscule amount needs to be shared by more than 7 billion people. And over 1.2 billion people live in areas of water scarcity in places such as southwestern United States, India, North Africa, Australia and northern China. Nearly one billion people live without clean drinking water. It’s happening all over the world, especially in developing areas like Africa, SE Asia. It’s a water crisis because it starts with water. But water affects everything. Education, health, poverty, and especially women and children. When they are thirsty, they can’t just turn on the faucet for a nice cold glass of water. They don’t have a faucet. Instead he women and children go off to collect water. Many walk up to 3 hours a day to the nearest water source, yet these water exposes to all kind of germs. Time spent getting the water make they cannot spend time to learn, read, write, earning income, take care of their family. When they make it home, the little water they have isn’t clean at all. Some families know their water is contaminated with germs that cause diarrhea, dehydration, and even death. But what choice do they have? Kids, especially babies, are most affected by the germs. About every 19 seconds, a mother loses one of her children to a water related illness. And each day, almost 1 billion people are living in this way. Until they get a little help.Luckily, the water crisis is solvable. There are solutions, some a brand-new and innovative, like water filtration system.

Description:
China has serious water shortage problems. The problems are caused by the pollution and high demand in China like farming. Also, China has a high population but the supply is not enough for all people. These factors cause the severe drought in China every year. The economic and the crop yield are affected too.
Reflection:
I think water is important for every people for different use so the water problems are related to us. It destroys the economy and may cause serious drought so the problems must be solved immediately. We can reduce the unnecessary using of water to lower the demand of water. Reuse water is an another way we can do. Besides, the government support are essential. It can promote some better policy that saving more water like better irrigation techniques for farming. Overall, water shortage is a serious problem in China. All of us should do more to solve this problem

description：
India has been facing food problems since long period. During Second World War India experienced a severe food crisis leading to a phenomenal increase in the prices of foodgrains. Again in 1943, Bengal faced a serious Agriculture and its Development in India famine where nearly 3.5 million people died out of starvation.
reflection：
i think that the people in India are so poor .
first, they can not have good crop production .this is the main reason why they dont have enough food.however, they also get a lot of corruption government.i think the government there should ask some developed country for help.
refer to the food problem in india, i think that we also need to "protect" ourselves.we need to avoid the food problem in our country or city.for example ,dont waste the food,in the restaurant we cannot order so many food .if waste too much food ,food problem may cause easily.also , we cannot waste water.it is because no water we cannot plant vegetable .i also think that the government in each country need to try their best to avoid food shortage.food shortage may lead a lot of problem we cannot ignore this problem.

It is exacerbating the water pollution and the propagation of infectious disease. The United Nations is setting up two days for raising the awareness of suitable using water and inspiring people.

Reflection:

I think the United Nations and the other international association especially the people as us need to face this enormous problem. We need to think for the people in the other side of the earth. Not all the people get enough water for daily use ,they get a lack of water services. The weather in Africa and other dry region are bad then hence affects the water supply in those places .The people can’t get enough money for buying water from that city or the other places .The water on the river bank is polluted by the water discharges by the factories and manufacturing factories nearby. The people nearby can’t use the polluted water and the sewage for daily usage and many of the children were died because of a lack of water .It cause a serious water shortage.

Nowadays people waste many water .The people are wasting more and more water while the living standards are increasing and there is more and more economic activities as well. The people don’t have the awareness of saving water and water conservation .And it causes the distribution of water in the earth is uneven and cause water shortage in developing countries.

The government can increase the water charges for the citizens so the citizens will use less water .Beside the government can post some notices and poster everywhere to teach the citizens about the importance of reduce using water .The advertising is also useful to encourage citizens for raising money for the people to buy water in developing countries. The government can build some pipes for the people there for transferring the water from the other places and provides water for the people. In addition, the government can command the people to work in factories and they could exchange the water for the work they done. The government can have more manpower while the people can get enough water .Then, the government can educate the people that how to use water effectively and lower the risk of water shortage and balance the uneven distribution in the whole world.

Moreover, the international association such as the United Nations ,UNICEF and WHO.etc.are now discussing the solution of water shortage in the world .They have set up two special days for telling us that we are now facing the problem of water shortage. They will put more effort on the conservation of water and the ecosystem ,and reducing the risk of drought in those developing countries.

Water shortage is a serious problem now we are facing.

2B (21)
Description:
This Video is about the problem of water pollution. There are more than 10% of the people in the world can't get access to clear water . There are a few reasons. For example, water will get polluted by the bad managed rubbish dumps. Also, chemical fertilizer for farming may create a big mat of algae that blocks the sunlight and oxygen from entering the water. Bacteria in the water will eat up all the oxygen left and the animals will die and destroy the natural ecosystem of the river.
Reflection:
The water pollution is a big problem for the society nowaday. Many things were affected by the water pollution. For example, the poor people in the middle East Asia and Africa often need to drink the polluted water. They don't get access of clean water to drink. The problem also affects the natural ecosystem of the fishes and may make it extinct. According to the video, most of the reasons are human factors. So, I think as one of the mankind. I think the mankind should do something about it to solve the problem, like setting a law to stop factories and restaurants from pouring waste into the ocean. Also, we can reduce or recycle the rubbish we have produced. It can stop rubbish from polluting the water. Morever, we can also reduce the use of water. It can reduce the amount of sewage produce and stop it from polluting the rivers, lakes and water.

Water resources in Europe is not enough to provide for people over there.
From the 2nd World War to the six in the twentieth century, the economic and social development of Western Europe and the United States developed rapidly, but it also paid the price of serious environmental deterioration. Due to the development of urbanization, industrial and modern agricultural production, the construction of flood control and power generation facilities, public investment misconduct, and slow response, the administrative department of water dilute and declining water quality becomes one of the most pressing environment problems, and a threat to the national economic development and public health.
After watching this video, I learnt that I should cherish the water and not waste it. Description: The UN agency’s world food program aims to reach 10.3million people who are suffering food shortages in drought affected and the food products have reached about 7.6 million people . The people which are suffering food shortage in drought are poor . They even can’t eat one meal in one day.

As we know ,people can’t live without food . Although the children in the picture are very brave to face their life they still will die one day if the food shortage haven’t been solve .we born in some place the hk , we don need to worried about the food problem .because we can buy food from other countries when we don’t have enough .but the children in the picture not same as us ! millions of people are facing these problem every day.I feel ashamed that i can’t do anything when they are facing theses. So i don’t waste food from nowadays and donate money to them . I hope all the food problem can be solve in the future.

Water pollution

Water is essential to life. It need not be spelt out exactly how important it is. Yet water pollution is one of the most serious ecological threats we face today.

Reflection
I think we should not waste too much water because there are only about 2 to 3 percent
water can be drunk.
If we waste water ,we are polluting water. Pollutants can be of varying kinds: organic,
inorganic, radioactive and so on. In fact, the list of possible water contaminants is just too vast to be listed here.
We can make the earth become cleaner

Description about the issue:

This passage from the UNITED NATIONS is talk about the water problem in the world. Many people can‘t get enough water for daily using. 2.1 billion of people can’t get the safety management and the sanitation management of water resources.

I hope that the water could be a sustainable resources in the future in either our countries and those developing countries.

2b33 food problem in india
description：

Issue:food problem
Introduce:
UNICEF has warned Argentina that millions of its children are living in poverty, with one in eight facing food insecurity.
People can’t find a suitable job, even they can, they are some hard but low income job. Therefore ,how people get enough money to buy food? There are about one-third of the country's total population suffer from poverty.

Reflection:
First ,I think people in Argentina should stop producing babies. This make the population in Argentina increase quickly. As the increasing demand, adults need
more money to buy food. However, they even can’t find job,so how can they support their children?(for example ,
the first lady in the video said that she had 4 children , but her husband can’t find job. They will definitely face the food problems)
If they can control the birth rate, reduce the population. I think less children will suffer from the food shortages.
Second, although the government had set up a program to help the children, or they said they will build up a better infrastructure. However, I think it uses too much time or can only help them for a very short period. It can’t really help the resident or children. Therefore I think government can listen to resident’s advice , then they can set up a better and suitable measure.

Description(50 words)
The global food problem consists of the lack of food provision for the Earth’s population. It manifests itself primarily in the poorest countries of the Third World and is currently aggravating as their populations grow. The total number of people suffering from a lack of food is over one billion people worldwide. The fact is that population growth outpaces agricultural problem and the development of agricultural.

Reflection(150 words)
According to World Health Organization and Food And Agriculture Organization, human daily norm should be 2400-2500 kilocalories, while other estimates give a higher figure——2700-2800 kilocalories.Undernourishment is visible when a person consumes less than kilocarlories ,while startvatin comes when their daily norm drops below the critical mark of 1000 kilocalories a day.Lack of food and the poor quality may cause very serious effects for people health and social and political tension and conflicts both in the regions suffering in the global world.Wheather it is acceptable in so rich a country to have 22 million children living in property and reliant on SNAP benefits depends on point of view because this agrument depends on values. It will cause the food issues. The poor are not alone in enjoying the benefits of government largesse

Water Shortage in China -- 2B 28

Food Waste
2B 32 Tsoi Chun Hei
There are over one-third of food produced around the world are lost or wasted. It was equating to about 1.3 billion tons per year.Food waste is a climate change concern, as methane emitted by rotting food is 23 times more potent than carbon dioxide.Food waste on the consumer end takes place when food is discarded because of quality or safety concerns.

I think it is a very important issue we should take look on it.There are food problem around the world, food waste is one of the factor of the food problem .The food waste of high food production country isomer than the low food production country. That mean the people who have enough food supply always waste more food than the poor people. It is a bad behave. To correct this problem, initiatives will need to be implemented around low-cost storage methods close to farms, improved redistribution and transportation processes, as well as enhancements in the agricultural infrastructure. Moreover, clarification of “sell-by” and “best-before” labels and education on proper storage methods can reduce consumer food waste. Also, we must end programs and incentives for biofuel use expansion, promote smallholder farming and sustainable agricultural practices, localize the food system, demand full rights for food workers at all points in the food system, and employ techniques to diminish food waste The first step for us to join the movement is to be educated about the food system globally and recognize the issues in our own community.

The vido tells us that water can change everthing.Because you can use water to do lots of thing such as drinking making clothes....But ,in some poor countries or
villages.Although they have water to use, the water arent clean.Even, some of them have no watr to use. They need to walk for a long time to get some unclean water to use.SO that show how important water are.
REFLECTION:
There is a water crisis in our world right now.Seriously, a crisis.

This video, WATER our most precious resource, is talking about water. And water is one of our most precious recource. But our water suplies are very little and it is limited. And this small amount of water needs to be shared by more than 7 billion people. And this water is not distributed evenly throughout the world.

Reflection:
After I have watched this meaningful video, I have learnt a lot of new things about water resources. Water resource is one of our most precious resources in the world. And the water supplies is very litter, 97.5% of Earth water is salty and only 2.5% is freshwater, but over 2/3 of this freshwater is locked in the polar ice caps and glaciers. And only 0.5% of water is in our rivers and groundwater for industrial and personal use. And some of this water are polluted. At the same time, the demand of water is increasing too. So, water resource is very important.

I agree with what you say because water is really important in the world. The video you suggested in the post is very interesting and is good for students like us to learn since it is made with cartoon. But I think you can describe more about the video so that this can attract more people to watch the video. Water is important to all of us. The most recent thing for us to do is to help people who don't have enough water and that's the reflection. For example you can suggest some ways for people to help others suffering in water problem. But in a whole you write very well. There are many number information for me to know the actual number. Thank you.

Description
On the left hand side of the picture, you can see there is many problems that related to water. For example, decrease in flow of stream and rivers cause drought on the right hand side of the picture.
Reflection
By looking at this picture, we can see there is many problems of water resources: Building dam cause decrease of river and stream flow.Overdrawing underground water cause water logging, water level.goes lower wells go dry, deleting whole aquifer and Seawater intrusion.

The 19 Biggest Food Problems in America
2B 26 Lai Cheuk Tong
Description
This article tells us that even the America has 19 food problem such as Confusing Food Labels, Food Inspection, Chemical Contaminants, Corporate Greed etc. It makes us think that are we falling into these modern food-production traps?

Facing Up to Africa's Food Crisis--2B (9)

After I saw this meaningful video in youtube.I have learnt a lot ways to help the world.about the government , they can suppport the small farmers .For example , they can lower the rent of the farmland so that they can have enough money to support their own family and keep on farming.about us , we can also do a lot of things to help it too.We can support the local super market. We can buy the things in the local super market. So the farmers can earn money in a faster and a more directly way.And they will not have the food shortage problem. So, we can buy the local food but not the food from the other countries. They will get more support from us.And their will be more ways to solve the problems in the world from the video.I think we can working together to let the world be etter.

Hunger | The World's Greatest Solvable Problem
We have a problem. 870 million people go to bed hungry each night. One in Eight That's reason enough to start solving hunger. But there's more. Nourished women have healthier, heavier babies whose immune systems are stronger for life. Studies show that by addressing child undernutrition, countries can significantly increase their GDP.

Some of the major causes responsible for the food problem are population growth, low productivity, vigorous farming, natural calamities and less support from developed countries. For example, population explosion is one of the major causes of food problem in India. There is less food production as compared to increasing demand.
reflection:
About the natural calamities, frequent occurrence of natural calamities also resulted in the large loss of food production. These mainly include rainfall which is such that in some areas there is deficit of water causes drought. At same time, some of the part receives more than normal rain.It will resulting into flooding which directly affect the crop production. Also, the availability of advance technique in some developed countries is responsible for their high production. However,it is not available in poor countries. The developed countries do not transfer their techniques to poor countries. And it is in order to increase the export. Then, one of the reasons of low agricultural productivity is use of low technology and traditional farming method.Other causes of low productivity are small land holding, forest destruction, insufficient manure and defective land tenures. These reasons make the problem of food.

description
People wasted a lot of food after eating. The food wasted on the table is up to two hundred billion yuan a year. The food is drained is equivalent to more than two hundred million people a year rations. This is a serious problem.
reflection
Food waste has become more and more serious. Many people did not have enough food to eat. If
we can reduce waste then can save some food. Even if this doesn't help people who have no food to eat, but we won't let other feel chill for our waste. We
must reduce food , water or other things. If we waste amount of food can give two hundred million people to eat, then why do we have to waste food?
Also the food waste will cause environmental problems. By 2050, waste of food will lead to an increase of 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. In the past fifty years, the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions from waste food has risen from 1.3 million tons to 5.3 million tons, up by more than 300%.

WATER our most precious resource
WATER our most precious resource
Water is a precious, yet finite resource essential for life, with no adequate substitute. Supplying and allocating water of adequate quality and in sufficient quantity is one of the major challenges facing society today. Such challenges are creating a giant market for water solutions.

Water resources in developing countries

Food shortage due to climate change

India is among the countries which are at the greatest risk of food insecurity due to weather extremes caused by climate change, a global study suggests.

Researchers led by the University of Exeter in the UK examined how climate change could affect the vulnerability of different countries to food insecurity - when people lack access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food.

The countries at the greatest vulnerability to food insecurity when moving from the present-day climate to 2 degrees Celsius global warming are Oman, India, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia and Brazil, researchers said.

“Climate change is expected to lead to more extremes of both heavy rainfall and drought, with different effects in different parts of the world,” said Richard Betts, a professor at the University of Exeter.

“Such weather extremes can increase vulnerability to food insecurity,” said Betts.

“Some change is already unavoidable, but if global warming is limited to 1.5 degrees Celsius, this vulnerability is projected to remain smaller than at 2 degrees Celsius in approximately 76 per cent of developing countries,” he said.

reflection:
I think climate change will affect the harvest.
The bad weather and the climate ,such as too cold or too hot,too dry, droughts, low rainfall, floods, too wet and so on will destroy the crops.these natural factors hold back food production. In India, climate change affect the harvest.
To solve the problem in India.I think the government can give the food aid to the people when the climate change appear. The most direct and immediate solution solution to food problem is to provide food aid. Also government should give money to the farmers when climate change occur because the farmers will get the lost during the climate change.
Beside provide food aid,I think it's hard to do anything.Since climate change is a natural factor.

I think chinese government should improve more modern machine so that the poor farmer can get more good harvest in a faster way.also, government should support or help their expenditure like buying seeds or buying machine.it can improve people's living standard and incomes increase.government should teach them some farming methods like mixed farming so that the farmers can both have a good harvest and livestock for food or selling in the market.moreover, chinese government should help the farmers while there is a drought.droughts may effects the plants and animals cannot live.the ecosystem is adversely affected.the drought will lead to crop failure so the food shortages may occur.and it is not enough to self-sufficient.so it causes inconvenience and may even affect people's health and live.in conclusion,to solve the food problem, the chinese government is time to action.

Overall,Africa has about 9% of the world's fresh water resources and 11% of the world's population. However, there is very significant inter-and intra-annual variability of all climate andwater resources characteristics, so while some regions have sufficient water, Sub-Saharan Africa faces numerous water-related challenges that constrain economic growth and threaten the livelihoods of its people. African agriculture is mostly based on rain-fed farming, and less than 10% of cultivated land in the continent is irrigated.
The impact of climate change and variability is thus very pronounced. The main source of electricity is hydropower, which contributes significantly to the current installed capacity for energy. Continuing investment in the last decade has increased the amount of power generated.
Solutions to the challenges of water for energy and food security are hindered by shortcomings in water infrastructure, development, and management capacity to meet the demands of a rapidly growing population. However, additional efforts are required to further develop political will, as well as the financial capacities and institutional frameworks needed for win-win multilateral cooperative actions and optimal solutions for all riparians.

Reflection :
I think water is important to us. But Clean water safe drinking water is scarce. Today, nearly 1 billion people in the developing world don't have access to it. Yet, we take it for granted, we waste it, and we even pay too much to drink it from little plastic bottles.
Water is the foundation of life. And still today, all around the world, far too many people spend their entire day searching for it.

In places like sub-Saharan Africa, time lost gathering water and suffering from water-borne diseases is limiting people's true potential, especially women and girls.

Education is lost to sickness. Economic development is lost while people merely try to survive. But it doesn't have to be like this. It's needless suffering.

And we have a water scarcity now. WHAT IS WATER SCARCITY? Water scarcity is Simply put, water scarcity is either the lack of enough water (quantity) or lack of access to safe water (quality). It's hard for most of us to imagine that clean, safe water is not something that can be taken for granted. But, in the developing world, finding a reliable source of safe water is often time-consuming and expensive. This is known as economic scarcity. Water can be found...it simply requires more resources to do it.

I think we should save water , do not waste water again. We should take shower but not bath.In some places, it is simply dry. Water is hard to find. In others, this most critical need is literally only a few feet below ground waiting to sustain life.

The Water Project, Inc. is a non-profit organization working to provide access to clean water to people in developing nations who suffer needlessly without it.

With our team of supporters we're funding clean water projects like water wells and rain catchment systems

Rethink Hong Kong’s food supply

After reading this post,I think about some solutions TARGET INFANT NUTRITION "Eliminating malnutrition is achievable. It's within our reach," Bill Gates told the London summit, and many companies and rich nations are backing an African government-led plan to tackle it. Big improvements have already been made. The solution lies in education on good feeding techniques and getting the right nutrients to the mother and child from the beginning of pregnancy. Overall, malnutrition makes people poorer – it is responsible for an 11% decline in GDP in affected countries. However, the problem is critics say it diverts policy makers' attention from the job of solving the systemic problems in food supply. Chances: 9/10 ROLL OUT BIOTECH Huge gains could be available for health and agricultural productivity if the promises of genetic modification can be believed. Gene-splicing crops to help them withstand drought and flood may be vital. Pigs and chickens could have their digestive systems altered so that they eat food not required by humans, and pollute the environment less. However, the problem is there are risks with the technology, and no satisfactory regulatory system in place. Public distaste at the idea of GM, especially in Europe, is holding up research and stopping investment. Safer ideas, like stem cell meat fed on algae, are still far from production. Chances: 6/10

It reminds us there are a lot of people in this world still live in hunger and they have food problem. So, we should cherish our food and money, don't waste food easily. And we should be frugal, think before you buy something. These things are important. Second, you said that this video was short but you could learn a lot of things from it. I agree with you! I also learnt a lot of knowledge from it. Such as the solutions of food problem, the video said that we could enpower women and girls, provide food in emergencies, support weak farmers, give children vital nutrition and support local food markets. Also, I think there are more solutions, not just only these five ways. For examples, we can donate money to the poor countries and people. Anyway, I think you did it great!

2B 6 i agree with you.in nowadays, Chinese government don't do well in hunger problem.many people living in the poor city have nothing to eat.it affect their health and live.also, the bad weather may affect people too.just like drought people cannot have income and farm.they don't have water and fertilizer to crop.so the production will fall.and also because the people living in rural area are poor so if the flooding or the drought come, they will be hungry.therefore,Chinese government should action for helping them and solving the food problem.i think this video can let everyone to know about how people‘s lives in rural area.and to promote how important and serious the problem is

(2B 31 Ngai Chun HIn) I think so. i think that the people who go to bed with hunger are very poor. They don't have enough food to eat and they are not healthy. I think the methods mentioned in the video are very good and I believe that with those methods, the government will rapidly solve the problem of hunger. People don't have to go to bed with hunger again and they can have enough food to eat every day and I think that there can be more ways to solve this serious problem. Hunger is a serious problem and it has to be solved as soon as possible. If this problem is not solved quickly, more people may die. The government of other countries should try the ways to solve the problem, in order to prevent more people die because of this.

Today's Chinese citizens have grown hungry for fatty, high-protein foods, but the country's agriculture industry may have hit its limit.
The Western diet could be to blame.

Over the past two decades, China's prevailing diet has shifted away from grains like rice and wheat in favor of richer animal proteins and a wider variety of exotic vegetables. As Bloomberg reports, this change has left the country short of land on which to grow produce and raise livestock.

While the Western diet typically demands about one acre per person, China has only 0.2 acres to devote to feeding each citizen. Meanwhile, the country consumes 50% of the world's total pork supply.

"The rapid rate of industrialization in China is really chewing up crop land at an alarming rate," Lester Brown, founder and president of the Earth Institute, told Reuters. "China is now losing cropland."

In an effort to meet the growing appetite for new foods, the country has turned its attention outward. But the solution isn't as simple as importing more food from abroad — unless the world begins accommodating food production for 9 billion people. Instead, the Chinese government has started leasing farms in North and South America, Australia, and Africa. In some cases, it has bought the land outright.

Food waste by 2B 24

I agree with you.In the West, we have wasted about 40% of food. This 40% occurs at the end of the food value chain - retailers and consumers. In developing countries, 40% of food has the same percentage, although the food loss here occurs at the beginning of the value chain. According to the data of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), if we look at global food waste, we find that Western countries such as European member countries are at the top of the list. About 179 kilograms per person are wasted here. In developing countries, the average person wastes 6-11 kilograms per year.

I agree with you so much. food problems happen around the world but nobody has think about the waste of food actually is the main cause of most food problem. Imagine you are a rich person, will you mind if you waste any food? Probably not. But if you live in a country which is suffering from food shortage, will you waste any food? I guess you won't waste a bit of the food even if you are a rich man! We should be now telling everyone around us to stop wasting our food! Next time when you are very full and you don't want to waste the food, think about the people suffering from the food shortage, that would be enough to make you keep eating.

In this video,a man was doing a street experiment. He was selling some bottles of water. The bottles of water was came from Somalia (索馬利).He invited people to buy.But the people did not need to pay any money to buy the water.Because they needed to walk on the treadmill to exchange the bottle of water .The man said that cholera , poliomyelitis, typhoid and Hepatitis A (霍亂,小兒麻痺,傷寒,A型肝炎)were found in that water.

This experiment wants to tell us that 2.4 million children in Somalia did not get clean water to drink .They need to walk for 10 or 50 km to find water.

(Lai Pei ling 2B 11) I think this video is very meaningful. It shows us many people didn't notice how serious if the children drink the polluted water and what disease will happen. Therefore, I think we should waste the water and to treasure the water in our daily life.Second, I am glad to see some people will use their power to help and experience the poor children. If I have a chance, I will do it also.

I agree with you .In Europe,The distribution of water resources is uneven. The difference in annual average runoff is very wide . In western Norway ,the annual average runoff was 3000 mm. But the annual average runoff of southern Spain was 25 mm . The difference between two area was 2975mm . The difference was really uneven . Half of the European mountain glaciers will disappear before 2025. Due to extreme hot weather .The water supply will decrease because of the disappearance of the mountain glaciers .So,I think the countries in Europe should protect the environment and reduce the water demand .So that they can get enough water to use. Pokemon and endangered species

2B(13) Topic: Water Resource
Description:

Water is very important for us. We need it every day to do something. Such as drinking, eating and transporting. If we don’t have enough water to use, then we can’t live in this world. So today, my topic is water resource. I also have a video about water resources, hope you enjoy it.

Reflection:

I will give an example which is about Europe’s water resources.
For example, if the tap is leaking, I will find people to fix it.
