As noted by Crockett, a student will only internalize information if it is moved from short term memory to permanent memory (Crockett & Churches, 2011). My job as an educator in the 21st century is to help make this process simple and efficient. I can achieve this level of student understanding by completing four things. If I connect the new information to something the learner knows, connect with previous knowledge and experiences, give students multiple opportunities to learn concepts, and give positive feedback frequently I give my students a high probability of being successful students (Crockett & Churches, 2011). In all of my lessons and units, I often find myself focusing on these areas and have seen the positive effect that it can have on the understanding and information retention of my students.

References
Crockett, L., Jukes, I., & Churches, A.
A Strategy to Promote Bloom's Digital Taxonomy

A strategy that I could implement in my classroom would be Bloom's Spiraling. This is the process of starting at the lower level of Bloom's then progress up through the different levels (Heick, 2013). By going through all levels, all of my students will be given a chance to show what they are fully capable of and will be given many opportunities to find success, be it for advanced students or struggling students.

References
Heick, T.

The app I chose to use to help students with understanding is Khan Academy. Khan Academy is effective in helping students understand math concepts because it provides them with many different explanations and support in performing the concepts. Khan academy will provide the students with a video that walks through the process of completing different concepts and also gives background and history as to why this concepts are taught and how they are used in the real world.

Desmos is great app that I use weekly in my classroom. Desmos is a graphing app that also allows students to complete teacher created lessons. Through the graphing part of the app, students can create graphs of anything they wish to create. Through the teacher lessons, students are given the opportunity to complete self led exploration assignments. These sometimes require students to create graphs that fit special parameters or achieve certain goals.
