  • Sister Helen, a nun, goes to help Matthew Ponclet, who is accused of murder, in prison by listening to him and try to make him turn to God
  • He is on death row, they try to get him out of it but to also get him to admit his mistakes
Main Character (Sister Helen)
  • Starts in a happy life as a nun
  • Begins to form connection with Matthew Poncelet as she talked with him more. Platonic intimate talks, he reveals more about himself to her (Traitor: government system, denied taking Matthew out of the death sentence)
  • In the end, he dies since there was a lack of self- revelation in how to save him and convince officials to take him off death row
Social Groups 
  • In the beginning, families are broken apart since their children were murdered. Want Matthew to die
  • Sister Helen spends time with families, tries to mend them but they reject her since she is aided with Matthew
  • In the end, the families still wanted to see Matthew die, came to watch his death, but it didn’t satisfy them like they thought it would. Pain of lost children still there, social groups still broken

He hires Hobb and his team to plant an idea in the son’s mind to destroy the company

Misadventure
  • Called to go on the mission in the son’s head. 
  • Needs to plant the idea at all costs 

Arbitrary chance 
  • The characters think they’re making progress in the dreams but they’re really not 
  • They have to go deeper and deeper into the mind 

Anti climax 
  • Even though they do all these epic scenes in the man’s dreams. It doesn’t mean anything because it is not reality 

Endless cycle
  • At the end of the movie they are about to reveal whether or not the main character, Hobb, is in reality or stuck in a dream 
  • At the last second, the movie cuts to black and it ends
