One thing that stuck with me from the book was how Christianity just took over Umoufia, and it was interesting to see how that happened. I learned a lot about Umoufia and the traditions and customs of there. It was really interesting to learn about their rituals and religion. It was very educational and I learned a lot about Ibo society and culture. One thing that really stuck with me in this book was the way women were treated in the society. Another thing that really stuck with me was the way the missionaries treated the Ibo people. It was extremely frustrating for me to have to read about how the missionaries wanted to enforce different  religion and government. The missionaries wanted the Ibo to understand their religion and their laws while they gave no real attempt to return the sentiment. It taught me a lot about the characters’ culture, and their customs. Something that stuck with me is that when a man hangs himself, it is an act of evil and the clan cannot bury him. It shows their perspective of good vs. evil and the way they handle situations like this. It was a very unexpected turn of events. It was also interesting to me that the book ended from the missionary’s point of view and not from the point of view of someone from the clan. I learned a lot about the Ibo culture from this book, and how much they rely on their religion for insight into normal everyday actions. Sometimes it was difficult to understand their actions and why they did them, because their religion is very different, but it is interesting. 3.  I learned that no matter whose belief is right or wrong, destroying a culture by force is never a way to change things. The goal was a happy society when Okonkwo was already happy. The goals didn’t match up with the situation.
