It was also European racism and colonialism. Haiti was the second free and independent nation state in the Americas. It was the most successful slave revolts. Without this revolution we wouldn't be standing where we are today in the field of peoples rights. I have learned a lot about this revolution and about the state of Haiti today. Tragedies have struck, but the people have always stayed strong.
