DETAILS / EFFECTS 
·         The Removal act caused up to 4,000 deaths of Native American’s.    
·         It was a loss of culture, and the “deep-rooted” tradition of the great Cherokees and the civilization that they set up were both lost.
·         Groups of Cherokees traveled by railroad, wagon and boat. A group traveling by wagon is said to have up to five deaths each day due to illness and drought.

    International- Africans were captured and taken from Western Africa to the Americas. 
     
    Push factors- The reasons Africans were migrated to the Americas because of Europeans starting the Transatlantic Slave Trade. 
     
    Pull factors- Since Europeans were growing crops in the Americas, they needed slaves to tend for the crops, that is why they captured Africans and brought them to the Americas.


    • By the 1480s, Portuguese ships were already transporting Africans for use as slaves on the sugar plantations in the Cape Verde and Madeira islands in the eastern Atlantic. 
    • Most historians believe that the slave trade had devastating effects in Africa. Economic incentives for warlords and tribes to engage in the slave trade promoted an atmosphere of lawlessness and violence. 
    • The Atlantic passage (or Middle Passage) was notorious for its brutality and for the overcrowded, unsanitary conditions on slave ships, in which hundreds of Africans were packed tightly into tiers below decks for a voyage of about 5,000 miles (8,000 km).

    Pull: Europeans forced 10 million to 12 million Africans across the Atlantic Ocean to work forcing them against their will to work in sugar plantations
    Push:Europeans had many resources and crops but they did not have any workers, so they traveled to Africa and forcefully took people to work.

    • Many Africans died because they were not fed during the trip to the Americas 
    •  They were in small places and they were mostly chained down
