is my smile. I know that is a physical trait but it also represents who I am as a person. I am always trying to make the best out of a bad situation. I greet everyone I meet with it. It shows who I am as a person at first glance. I am caring and I enjoy meeting new people. At my high school prom, I was named, "Most likely to always be smiling." Almost ten years later I am still smiling and these days it is at the sweet children I get to call my students.

My cultural bias has to do with age. Four 3 years I worked at Chick-fil-a where I had managers and co-workers that were much younger than me. I didn't necessarily like being told to take out the trash by someone who was still in high school. To this day I feel like seeing people younger than me accomplish more than I have bothers me. I have a cultural bias towards age differences.

This is something I wrote that gives an example of my struggles in life and how I have a different perspective because it has taken me longer to get through different stages than that of others.

My Cultural Values came from where I grew up and how I was raised. I grew up in a small southern town in Georgia surrounded by a big loving family who would do anything for me. My parents worked hard to get my brother and me through school. Family is important to me. Every holiday memory I have is with cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. We would have good homemade food at family gatherings and tell stories of our relatives. Before every holiday meal, we gather in a circle to hold hands and say the blessing. Sometimes the prayers are simple and sweet other times they were heartfelt and spoke of loved ones that were ill. Every Sunday I went to church with my grandparents. this instilled in me my love for God and brought about my Christian values.

I enjoy reading bible verses and inspirational quotes along with magazines and novels. Some family literacy traditions I have include Christmas and Easter. At Christmas, we watch the movie, "A Christmas Story" and at Easter, we watch "The Ten Commandments". I also enjoy Disney movies and Nicolas Sparks Novels.
Reading River

I read them and if there is someone I believe the quotes relate to then I share it with my family and friends. I color quotes and give them to friends or make something creative to share online. I have also added quotes and verses to pictures I have taken.

The Bible is more than just a book it is a spiritual foundation that brings life to thousands of people around the world. The Bible on top I have been carrying since I was 10 years old. It was a Christmas gift from my parents and it has my name engraved on the front cover. My Bible will always be important to me

My strengths with working with culturally diverse students would be how caring I am. I take time to get to know my students and their individual needs. I ask them questions when they get to school and make sure they get the accommodations they may need if they are ELL students.

My struggles with working with culturally diverse students would be not knowing what their home life is like, what kind of cultural traditions do they have that are different from others. How do I differentiate they lesson if they speak another language?

There are many things I need to take into consideration when working with a student from a different cultural background than my own but the most important thing is to be there for them. To have that safe place they can come to learn and grow.
