We began our first day in Ciprus with an excellent breakfast and an informative gathering. Afterwards we travelled to the school which we were cooperating with throughout our stay. On our travel we managed to view a bit of the city and shops in the centre. In the beginnning we found it strange that the traffic was left-sided, and every steering wheel in every car was on the right. The school welcomed us with open arms. We began our stay with a splendid speech given by the principal. This speech informed us about the hero of the school, the available studies and the history of the building. After the speech we went to see the classroom where said hero studied in. In said classroom we were given a bit more clarity on the hero with pictures on the wall. Succeeding our stay in the classroom the bell rang and we were free to talk with the dismissed students. The break was 20 minutes long and a quick talk with one person lead to a huge group of talking people shortly after the conversation started. We met a lot of students and gathered a lot of information about their views on certain topics. After the break was over we were granted with the chance to view an arts class and a p.e. class. While the p.e. was going on we managed to organize a small match between our classes in a friendly match of basketball. After the class we started our travel back to hotel Alvida. After we were done with lunch we started to walk around the city. On our walk we viewed the unique architecture of Ciprus. Afterwards we got back to the hotel and began preparing to sleep.

We agreed to meet at the airport at 17:45. When everyone arrived at the airport, everyone was overcome with excitement. We complied with the airport procedures without any problems, and the plane took off at 20:00. Since we came on a late flight, there wasn't much of a view. For many of us tell you this was a first time on a plane, so it was a new experience. And the plane landed at 1:30 a.m. After that, we quickly went through the Paphos airport. We were brought to the hotel by bus from the airport, together with other Erasmus students. There were small complications with the rooms, but in the end everything was resolved. Instead of rooms for 2-3 people, we were accommodated in rooms for 4-5 people. After we received the room key, we got comfortable and went to bed so that we could be fresh the next day to meet and get to know the Cypriot students.

On our second day, after a delicious breakfast and a meeting, we ended up at the nearby school again.

Today, we were able to get some insight into the classes of the locals. Everyone could choose, whether they wanted to visit art, biology, physics or English class. The girls we were with in art class showed us how to write our names with their letters and we did the same with theirs. It appears on the lockers, how talented the students are, because they were decorated by them. We also drew our schools banner and were happy to answer all of the questions about our school system which we were asked. After that everyone attended P.E., where we could decide between soccer and volleyball. Since the teams were mixed by language, we were able to get to know the students from Cyprus better. Next we went to see the Tombs of the Kings. Our guide gave us a lot of new information and we had the opportunity to explore the dark tunnels by ourselves. There were two kinds of tombs which we explored, some of these were rebuilt. In the afternoon we discovered the town and its environment. The sea is visible from almost everywhere along with the palm trees. Some of the house’s gardens had orange and lemon trees, which produced a lot of fruit. We walked past them being amazed.

We began our third day by returning to the school where we had the opportunity to attend biology, art and English classes while also working together with the students. In biology we discussed an environmentally friendly and healthy diet. In art we discussed an ecologically sustainable architecture and its impact on biodiversity. In English class we learnt about different cultures and their traditions. After the lessons we gave a presentation about our school to the local students. After school we visited a nearby museum where we saw ancient artifacts that played a pivital role in the Cyprus history and culture. We learnt about ancient sculpting methods ceramic practices and metallurgy. After the trip to the museum the tour guide gave us a detailed insight into the country’s early history and culture. After leaving the museum we headed to the old town where we looked around and bought souvenirs that can evoke our prettiest memories of this place for us and our parents as well.

Then we visited The Archaeological Site of Nea Paphos which is included in the UNESCO world heritage program. We examined the over two thousand years old mosaic floors, and the ruins of the ancient city. We especially liked the fact that they were considerate of the visually challenged by putting up braille signs. At the end of the day we took part in a wonderful boat trip.

On the way home we were flabbergasted by the scenery of the paphos lighthouse and the seashore.

A buszút során gyönyörű kilátások, tájképek fogadtak minket. Megálltunk az Appolon templomnál, ahol szerencsénk volt egy magyar idegenvezető csapattal összefutnunk, jó volt hallani a saját anyanyelvünket egy másik országban. Sajnos az időjárás közrejátszott a Kurion múzeum látogatásakor, így pár távoli fotóval álltunk tovább.

Megérkeztünk Limasolba, a város felderítése megkezdődött. Szabad kezet kaptunk, hogy merre mit és hogyan csinálunk, ezért minden lehetőséget megragadtunk. Étterem után eredtünk, mivel sokan már éhesek voltak, így kerültünk be jobban a város szívébe. Csodás falművészet volt jelen a szűk kis utcákban, és mindenhol karneváli díszek (a szombati karnevál miatt). Helyiektől kértünk segítséget, hogy mit ajánlanak. Megkaptuk a választ! Gyrost ettünk egy közeli ciprusi pitába tekert óriás gyrost. Miközben szeltük az utcákat, rengeteg európai értékkel találtuk szembe magunkat és rengeteg ezt hirdető plakátot olvastunk. UNESCO világörökségi épületet is találtunk. Szuper volt látni, hogy ennyire aktívan hirdetik/híresztelik ezt. A fenntarthatósággal kapcsolatban sok second-hand üzletet és színes szelektív kukákat láttunk. A hazafelé tartó buszutat sokan délutáni csendes pihenőként használták fel, hogy kipihenjék a heti programokat.

We began our full-day exploration at Aphrodite's Rock, where we were greeted with a stunning view and fascinating background story. Traveling by a shared bus, we were introduced to Cypriot traffic customs and various prohibitions/rules. The left-side traffic was intriguing, and it took some time for our eyes to adjust.

During the bus ride, we were welcomed by beautiful vistas and landscapes. We made a stop at the Apollo Temple, where we were fortunate to encounter a Hungarian tour group, which was a pleasant surprise to hear our native language in another country. Unfortunately, the weather wasnt welcoming during our visit to the Kurion Museum, so we had to settle for some distant photos.

Upon arriving in Limassol, our city exploration began. We were given free rein to explore as we pleased, so we made the most of every opportunity. After dining at a restaurant to satisfy our hunger, we ventured deeper into the heart of the city. Wonderful street art colored the narrow streets, and carnival decorations were everywhere (due to the Saturday carnival). We sought recommendations from locals and were directed to try gyros at a nearby Cypriot eatery.

As we wandered the streets, we encountered numerous European influences and read many posters promoting them. We even stumbled upon a UNESCO World Heritage site, which was exciting to see so actively advertised. In terms of sustainability, we noticed many second-hand stores and colorful recycling bins. Many passengers on the bus ride back used it as a quiet afternoon respite to unwind from the week's activities.
