This scene is about a little girl who comes up to Eddie and asks him if he can make an animal for her. Eddie, considering he loves children, he makes the animal for her and gives her what she wants since she is a child. This is important and goes with why I picked it because this little girl is impactful when he start getting closer to the minutes until his death. In a few pages before we learn that Eddie loves children but does not like teenagers.

This scene is when Eddie arrives into heaven. This scene is significant to the book because it shows how Eddie was feeling when he arrived. This is important but also an emotional part of the chapter and why I chose this piece because it symbolizes what Eddie feels when he gets to heaven. Throughout Eddies life he encountered physical pain but also emotional pain considering he was in war and the everyday challenges that he faced. In heaven he is finally free from having the pain he always felt.

This scene is when Eddie gets to heaven and he meets the first person there, the blue man. This scene is very important to the story for several reasons. This sparks a moment in Eddies journey but also him feeling regret for what he had done. This is overall important to the story and as to why I chose this because it shows Eddies journey of self discovery and highlights something bigger that could happen later on into the story.

This scene is overall important for different reasons. The blue mans messages serves for Eddies journey throughout heaven and leads to go on to tell him that there are still five more people for him to meet in heaven which will teach him lessons. All of the people Eddie encounters in heaven have one lesson to teach him. Overall this scene leaves a turning point in Eddies journey while he is there. The other five people that he meets will ultimately change him and teach him lessons about life that has been awaiting his whole life.

This part of the book is a crucial point because this is during the war when it shapes Eddies life and the lessons he learns in his afterlife. The act of violence he had towards the crazies is something he regrets but is something that he needed to do for Rabozzo. This part influences Eddies actions and the mindset he goes onto having.

This scene is where Eddie gets shot in the leg. This is important to who Eddie is and to the book because it leads to a lifelong injury that defines much of his identity and sense of purpose. This injury ends his dreams of a different future, it affects him to his maintenance job at Ruby Pier. This symbolizes the sacrifices and unexpected turns in life, and in the afterlife, Eddie learns how this moment intertwined with the lives of others, which reveales the deeper meaning and impact of his pain and suffering.

This scene is where the Captain tells Eddie about sacrifice as his second lesson. This is important because it helps Eddie understand the value and necessity of the sacrifices he made in his life. The Captain reveals that he died while helping Eddie's survival. This allows Eddie to see his own sacrifices, such as giving up his dreams and enduring physical pain that he has to deal with. This teaches him that his sacrifices were not in vain but rather in the need to the lives and well-being of others, helping him find meaning and closure.

Through this we understand Eddies life and his past life and we have an understanding of how his dad was. This also ties back to the part of forgiveness because Eddie learns that his father died trying to save Mickey Shea showing even though his dad was one way he was also brave and was worthy to sacrifice his life for someone else.

Eddie meeting Ruby was an impactful Expirence because she talks to him about his dad and teaches him that he shouldn't have hatered all his life. Through Ruby, Eddie learns the circumstances that led to his father's death, showing him sacrifice and misunderstood intentions. This allows Eddie to understand why his father was the way that he was. Ruby's lesson emphasizes the theme of forgiveness and understanding.

This is the part where Eddie is with Marguerite in heaven and she tells him about love. This part is extremely important to the book because moments occurs after Eddie has already met three other individuals who have shaped his life and taught him different lessons, and he is now encountering Marguerite, his wife. Her message reinforces the theme that love is still there whether it is physical existence or not. This provides Eddie with a profound sense of peace and closure. At this point in the book, Eddie is taking all of his feelings in of regret and confusion about his life's meaning, and Marguerite's words help him understand that love remains a guiding and healing force. This shifts Eddie's perception of his past, helping him to see his life through a lens of love and connection rather than loss and pain. It also underscores the connections of human experiences and the lasting impact of relationships. This is essential for Eddie's journey in heaven because it shows him acceptance and redemption as he continues to uncover the deeper significance of his earthly existence.

During this time in the book, Eddie is reflecting on the significant moments of his life and the relationships that shaped him. The loss of the adoption child represents one of the most painful experiences for Eddie and Marguerite, emphasizing the unpredictability and uncontrollable aspects of life.
