I expect students to grow as creative writers, public speakers, and critical thinkers; to be able to frame their art practice within art historical and theoretical contexts; to effectively critique different art forms.

I want to see students grow more confident and focused in their ability to present themselves professionally, and to be able to walk away fat the end of the class with tools for self-promotion, marketing, how to reach out to potential employers or clients, so they can make the leap from student to pro with an advantage.

In this course, I'll be helping MFA students create and implement a strategy to promote their MFA show. They'll learn skills in writing for a general public, crafting a press release, defining and disseminating the show's concepts on social media, and talking about themselves and their work in interviews with the press. In the art industry, how you say what you do can be just as important as what you make. This class will empower student to craft their message and share it, helping them build visibility and careers.

I would like students to build on their visual language through a wide exploration of different mediums and broaden their imaginations in how they might approach an illustration brief. I would also like them to strengthen their design skills in relation to color and composition and their conceptual skills in relation to storytelling. Most of all though, I want them to be excited about the process of creating and illustrating.

I'm teaching a class in digital storytelling, and I hope that students will learn how to format and structure their ideas into an engaging story, learn how to make it compelling both in terms of narrative and visuals, and how to select and master a tool out of the many that are available to them in order to make that happen.

Students will have a solid understanding of the advertising creative process - from briefing, to creative development, and execution. They will have a framework for coming up with ideas for brands, products, and services. Their work will be strategically sound, thoughtful, and relevant. And they will be able to give/take feedback and refine their work to make it better.

My goal is to demystify modern digital design systems for my students. While these systems can seem daunting at first, they represent an exciting and growing opportunity in UX design. I want to guide students toward that moment of clarity when everything clicks – when they achieve both technical fluency and creative confidence in their craft. I hope this understanding will open doors and help them shine in their careers.
