He stays in a cabin near where he crash landed. Every night he hears a strange noise at night, and he tries to ignore it. In the day he focuses on getting the radio working and getting supplies. One night the noise gets very close and, thinking it is a bear, he grabs the gun and goes to investigate. The creature hears him, lunges at him, and he shoots it. After he shoots it the creature runs away quickly. The next day he goes outside and there is a black goo splattered around where the creature was. He touches it, and passes out. 16 hours later he wakes up in a test facility even deeper in the Alaskan wilderness. There he is examined, and once they determine Eddie isn't "infected" they arrest him for harming government property. The government agents stress that the creature was never going to harm him, so he shot it for no reason. They do thank Eddie for making it easier to track the creature though, and then leave. The lights cut off at night, and the noise gets louder and louder. Then there is the sound of glass breaking and the creature screams down the hallway past Eddie. After the creature passes Eddie, there is a strange sensation he feels. Suddenly Eddie gets enveloped in a large black mass and gains immense strength. Eddie bends the bars holding him in the facility, and then goes to run out the door in the facility. When he gets to the exit, he sees the creature trying to break into the "panic room" of the scientists. The creature hears him and turns to look, then flings itself at him. Eddie and the creature fight, and Eddie wins. The government agents dislike that he decapitated government property, and they try to execute him. He uses the black creature to escape the facility, and is home free. Or is he...
