Eat Well Feel Good Ballarat is a partnership between the City of Ballarat and Ballarat Community Health that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of the community by providing healthy food and drinks at council-owned facilities and partnered sports clubs. 

AccessAbility

The City of Ballarat has committed to deliver a healthy drinks fridge at its outdoor pool kiosk and at Selkirk stadium.

Funding

Eat Well Feel Good Ballarat is funded through a partnership between the City of Ballarat and Ballarat Community Health. It also receives support from the Victorian Government through the VicHealth Local Government Partnership Project, and by participating in the state-wide Vic Kids Eat Well initiative, supported by the Department of Health, Victoria.

Success

The survey was conducted between November 2021 and April 2022, and 50 responses were received.

Description: We aim to provide gender-affirming healthcare services, and it all starts with making an appointment with one of our peer navigators. A peer navigator is a person with lived experience who also has the professional skills to support you to create pathways to affirm your gender and access health services depending on your personal needs, goals and where you are located.

Funding

Ballarat Community Health (BCH) funds its gender and sexual health services through a mix of Victorian Government funding (including for a sexual health hub and a Trans and Gender Diverse Initiative) and Australian Government funding (via headspace), alongside other income streams like fee-for-service

Success

This service has proved to be a huge success with lots of users feeling better within themselves and freer after consulting with a peer mentor.

Strategies for improvement

Increase the advertising so more people are more aware this service exists.

BCH Alcohol and other drug team provide support, information and continuing care for individuals with substance abuse or addiction, along with support for family and significant others.

DESCRIPTION

 We provide free counselling and support services to people impacted by road trauma. We are committed to raising public awareness about road trauma and its profound impact on people’s lives.

ACCESSIBILITY

There is only one franchise in Ballarat making things slightly harder to access but they have a phone and email that you can contact.

FUNDING

It is a non-for-profit organisation that is funded by the Victorian Law Foundation

SUCCESS

They are successful but would probably be more successful if they didn't rely on volunteers

STRATEGIES

Once again if they didn't rely on volunteers they would find things easier but by having volunteers they also raise more money.
