What gendered messages are present in the characters' roles, careers, emotions or concerns?

American horror story isn't really a typical show, it has about 10 different seasons and each season is a different story line with different characters featured but i'll focus on one season of the show with that seasons being seasons 12: delicate. In this season Anna, the main character is an actor who wants to win a Oscar, be successful and have a baby. She struggles with having a baby so she does IVF and the whole time she's anxious and paranoid that everyone is lying to her and somethings wrong with her baby, her publicist is the leader of a cult and she manipulates annas fertility struggles to create a powerful demonic baby and uses Annas body as a vessel without her knowing by conspiring with Annas doctor. through the whole show, they show themes of playing on the anxieties and desires of women in Hollywood to achieve their ultimate goals at any cost, this season shows themes of female agency and societal expectations really well because the only reason Anna wants to have a baby is because everyone is pressuring her to have one and everywhere she looks she see's mothers with their healthy babies and she's the only woman who doesn't have children of her own. She is married to a man, she has a good job as a actress and the only thing she's missing is s baby. this ties into gender because she wants a baby because she feels as if she has to have one due to outside pressures and she dresses very femininely which also ties into her character.

1. "floating on the water ever changing/ picture hours out from land"- I feel like this is describing being carried away by an experience and the talk about the ocean is about escape and surrender

2. "take me one last wave, take me one last round, im out of my head tonight"- this feels like reminiscing about a person, wanting another chance to be with them

3. "you arrive in my dream/ beside me every night"- this to me sounds like a deep connection, implies a longing for someone, hinting at a past or distant love connection.

these lyrics to me create a sense of floating in the moment of intimacy, the water imagery conveys feelings of drifting away and escapism.

1. "tired of being what you want me to be/ feeling so faithless, lost under the surface"- I feel as if this means the person is tired of the expectations and feel as if they cannot overcome it

2. "I've become so numb, I can't feel you there"- the chorus feels as if its discussing emotional detachment from someone

3. "every step that I take is another mistake to you"- once again highlighting that they feel as if they'll never be good enough no matter what they do.

This is one of my favorite songs and deeply resonates with me and I feel as if It can be applied to relationships, friendships or even parental pressure. the song talks heavily about trying to please others at the cost of ones own happiness.
