The hotel is given instructions by the government to have stricter regulations on people capacity and staff scheduling. Due to social distancing measures, only 1 person can be staffed at the concierge desk at any point of time. Since the W hotel in Singapore has a lack of full-timers working at the desk, we were very dependant on part-time workers to perform the duties of a bellman. Due to the strict staffing regulation, the W had to schedule the full timers as priority, and hence have to let many part-time workers go. This led to the an internal conflict of managers and part-time workers, who have been working at the W for a long period of time and has committed to the company. This led to the unhappiness amongst employees. Now the company has realised that they should treat part time workers with the same amount of respect as full time workers. A big and renowned brand will be beneficial to kick start my career as I would be able to learn from the well-established departments and experienced employees. A reputable company will also provide me with proper training in terms of structure and ample learning experience. 


Hotel branding, values and CSR practices are essential to every hotel brand. Good branding of the hotel will not only attract new customers, but also retain current customers and turning them into advocates for the brand. Having good branding will leave a good impression and a sense of luxury amongst the customers. The hotel also has to stick to its values and principles, this shows that the hotel practices what they preach and is trustworthy. Having good CSR practices also shows that the hotel is not only aimed at getting financial benefits, it also shows that the hotel is playing their part in the community, contributing positively to its community.
