2) We are concerned that misconceptions about CS are deterring female students from enrolling in CS. We are also concerned that some of our other historically disadvantaged subgroups (students with IEPs and English Learners) are discouraged from taking Comp Sci classes. 
3) We are going to focus on the "retention" rate in our CS program this year - ensuring that female students (and those from other subgroups) who took the intro class opt into the AP classes. We are also going to continue to work on our course selection process to improve how we message the courses to both students and their families. 
4) We want to also think about how we message career opportunities for our students in these classes - we're thinking of a career day to increase exposure for our students.

Estrella Elementary School recruits and engages students not meeting grade-level standards, English Learners, and girls. To provide opportunities for students to broaden their opportunities to learn to code.  We want to expand Scratch Jr. and Scratch schoolwide so that all students are exposed.   We are thinking about those students who struggle, lack motivation, and provide a way to ignite the love for technology, incorporating  CS within their daily schedule and using Zoom as a way to increase CS for all grade levels to participate. The goal is for students to use technology for all students. We have Scratch JR.
