It´s probably because he played the second song in 1979, so technology had had more time to develop. The tempo in the second video is slower, and the lyrics are clearer. Also, the lyrics in the first song seem to be love-related, or relationship-related, anyway, and the second song´s lyrics are not. Maybe that´s because before Erickson was institutionalized, he was a little bit more of a normal person to be around. After he got out of the hospital, people probably treated him differently, and he didn´t really have the opportunity to build another relationship, at least not in the beginning. Also, in the first video, he seems a little more...wild in a way that´s kind of hard to explain. In the second video, he seems more ¨I´m here, I´m doing this, 
I´m playing this song, okay, cool, let´s do it.¨ Maybe it´s a younger versus older thing.
