This book focused the story of Robert Anderson, the main character who had committed murder and rape. This isn’t the story over everything that happened, including the trials and interrogations.

This had a major impact on him, and how he felt about the future crimes he committed causing him to realize the joy he felt while committing the crimes. Second, his first interrogation. This is the first thing that really got the investigators onto a trail that it was him. During his interview, he was way too calm and collected and answered without any hesitation. As a normal person would go on a rant and be nervous. Lastly, him going to prison. This was before they fully found out it was him, but only knew one of the murders for sure. He had a cellmate he would confess all his crimes to, which then got spread out the the police and the judge to follow.

There wasn’t anything major in this time period that would effect the case, but the fact that they had less advanced technology then we do now could maybe have in impact on how long the case took to solve. Though there were many places that didn’t have a major impact, there for sure was one. This was in Lake Vermillion, where he had buried the first body. This had an impact on the pace of the investigation, as its a swampy area were it would be hard to find a body, especially due to the growth of vegetation. This would cause the investigation to stagger into intervals within dead ends, and hopefully finds.

This is because in the beginning of the book, they had written a quote that states, “this is dedicated tot he morals of the people, in the end good shall prevail.” I feel like their professional life didn’t have to much to do with this, but the fact of them living in this time frame personally, can most likely make them feel as if they had a connection to this moment making the words have more meaning in whats being written than what the reader can see or comprehend.

For pathos, I feel they didn’t use this as much, but there were some areas where they would describe what happened in a way that would get you thinking how messed up the situation was. Though, they didn’t use logos throughout this story
