Phonics is taught daily. Children will secure their Reception knowledge during the first 5 week of the Autumn term before moving on to new content 'phase 5' where we introduce more complex digraphs and trigraphs and link these to different ways of spelling the same sounds e.g. ay/ ai.

Phonics Screening Test June 2027

The children will sit a phonics screening test in June 2027. This will consist of alien and real words and will test the children's phonic knowledge. The children have already begun making some fun preparations for this reading challenge - we really enjoy reading the names of the aliens who visit us on a daily basis!
