         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 2011, the FDA approved this new procedure for aortic valve replacement ("Treatment options", 2016). This surgical innovation approach for aortic stenosis is either referred to transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) or transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), and can be performed in 3 different approaches that is minimally invasive for the patient ("Treatment Options", 2016). These less invasive surgical options are ideal for those patients who suffer from severe aortic stenosis who are high risk surgical candidates. This procedure balloons the native diseased valve first&nbsp;and implants the new heart valve at the aortic valve site via catheter guide approach (Leon et al., 2010).</div>]]></description>

As described on the website, Newheartvalve.com, many individuals live asymptomatically with this disease and often options are limited when they become symptomatic. Severe aortic stenosis contributes to a shortened life expectancy (2-5 years) and creates a myriad of multi-system problems ("Aortic Stenosis Facts", 2016) This innovation is improving patient outcomes for those without options and is designed for ease of insertion via 3 approaches. This is a time saving device for the surgeon and the patient. This procedure will contribute to cost savings by shortening surgical time, reducing post procedure hospital length of stay, and reducing individual future medical costs! </div>]]></description>
